The end of the GOP, probably not. They are doing a fine job of dismantling it themselves. They are SO splintered now. The righties hate the moderates. The moderates fear the righties. The fundies grow more and more strong. It is impossible for all of these disparate groups to agree on anything, let alone a candidate.

From what I have heard their take on Romney is "better than Obama," with only like 35% of repubs actually LIKING Romney. The dems, about 75% of them like Obama. A huge difference in loyalty.

Can merely hating the opponent REALLY sway an election? We'll see!

That's true for now. But manipulating the polls the way the media tends to do does help to dampen the morale of republicans. It will be sufficient to hand victory to obama. It's the right thing to do.

When Romney loses, I expect the GOP will splinter into 2 distinct factions- the religious nutjobs and the economic conservatives- mostly divided geographically.

The more libertarian republicans will control the northeast, midwest, mountain states, & west coast, while the religious freaks will contol the south.

The 2016 GOP convention will see a formal split in the GOP, resulting in one group making a 3rd party bid. Not sure which group that will be.

Either way, it will ensure the Dems win in 2016.
