For the person who stated a state cannot leave the United States, actually I know of 4 states that have the right to secede written in their state Constitutions. Sure the feds would send federal troops into the state to subdue, just as federal troops under the great god Abraham Lincoln occupied the state of Maryland and the western counties of Virginia which he illegally made intot the state of West Virginia. Anyone want to guess which 4 states it is I know have secession clauses in their state Constitutions. Clue-no, it's not Alabama. 3 of the states are original 13 colonies and 1 state used to be part of one of the 13 states. Have a good day!!!

all these foreigners moving here from new york and cali
There goes all our vast deserts and rocky mountains. They will come in from New York and start settlements and those from California will come in to work for the Yorkers. Makes it easier for illegals too - they won't have to walk so far in the heat.

Thank you for an adult observation.

An excerpt from Texas v. White, 74 US 700, 1868:

"The Union of the States never was a purely artificial and [74 U.S. 700, 725] arbitrary relation. It began among the Colonies, and grew out of common origin, mutual sympathies, kindred principles, similar interests, and geographical relations. It was confirmed and strengthened by the necessities of war, and received definite form, and character, and sanction from the Articles of Confederation. By these the Union was solemnly declared to 'be perpetual.' And when these Articles were found to be inadequate to the exigencies of the country, the Constitution was ordained 'to form a more perfect Union.' It is difficult to convey the idea of indissoluble unity more clearly than by these words. What can be indissoluble if a perpetual Union, made more perfect, is not?...

"The Constitution, in all its provisions, looks to an indestructible Union, composed of indestructible States.[74 U.S. 700, 726] When, therefore, Texas became one of the United States, she entered into an indissoluble relation....

"The union between Texas and the other States was as complete, as perpetual, and as indissoluble as the union between the original States. There was no place for reconsideration, or revocation, except through revolution, or through consent of the States."

Neither Texas nor any other state can secede from the United States. The Civil War is shameful evidence of that fact.

The U. S. Constitution, established in part to "form a more perfect union," trumps any such provisions in a state constitution.

Article VI of the U. S. Constitution provides that "This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States shall be the supreme law of the land...ANY THING IN THE CONSTITUTION OR LAWS OF ANY STATE NOTWITHSTANDING..." The KKK, and the Confedaracy, are still alive and continue running Texas!
Just witness all the republican inbreds like governor Rick Perry and the Houston, Dallas area so-called representative tyrants in charge now!
Our best bet would be to wrest control of Texas from these white racist inbreds and make Texas an all Hispanic state! These bigots would run and leave like hell out of Texas like the roaches that they are!

America is becoming more and more like Europe, so moving to Europe would be pointless. It's already what you fear America is becoming, a Socialist nation. We're not there yet, but it's coming.

You're an idiot. You make all Chicano's look bad with ignorant comments like this. GW Bush was pro-amnesty and Ronald Reagan actually pulled it off, hence my parents are now here legally. My dad is now a tax paying citizen. Those guys were Republicans but you probably didn't know that.

If it does secede can it take the other confederate states with too. It's all one group of racist uneducated overweight unhealthy radical religious people in those states anyway. They would not be missed and getting rid of them would boost the image of the USA as a whole. We'd be a healthier, more intelligent, less bigoted nation without those bottom feeders .slowing the rest of us down.

All of you crazy East Texas hillbillies go ahead and re-establish the Republic of Texas. In the meantime, El Paso will quietly become a part of New Mexico. It's not as though you rednecks ever remembered that El Paso was ever a part of Texas anyway.

That is because El Paso has made it clear they are not part of Texas...it should really be part of Mexico.

Just suppose Texas did become independent, would we be able to handle the immigration problem? Being that Mexico might see it as a chance to as I have heard RETAKE the lands that WERE TAKEN from them. We hear in Arizona how kids are inticed by their hispanic teachers that they have a right to retake that which was STOLEN from their ancestors. Recently in California also, though nothing more has been reported, why, I wonder?
