Could Texas become its own country?

Ever since Governor Perry gave a nod to secessionists, the idea of Texas leaving the United States to become its own country has put the Lone Star State in the national spotlight.

as a native of texas i would love to see this happen but have mixed concerns on the possibility of it happening. i don't think the federal government will let it go gently meaning there will be an intrastate war in the future if the subject is pushed. i have grown tired of the united states and agree with gov perry and have been thinking for some time of moving to europe as america is not what it is supposed to be or use to be.

Back in the 1800's Texas was its own country, The Republic of Texas or have folks forgotten that. Even during WWII Texas was pretty much self sufficient by building their own power grid for their war time industries. This way they weren't dependent on out side power sources being cut off. Texas has industries the rest of the country doesn't nor can get. Think about it, if Texas goes the rest are gonna pay through the nose.
