Are Republicans Attacking Capitalism?

Politics Staff Story

Now that Romney is the clear front-runner, the non-Romneys have been busy laying in to his business career.

On Tuesday, Gingrich’s supporters released an attack ad calling Romney a “predatory corporate raider.” And Rick Perry slammed Romney's former company, Bain Capital:

They're vultures that are sitting out there on the tree limb, waiting for a company to get sick. And then they swoop in, they eat the carcass, they leave with that and they leave the skeleton.

Other Republicans and news sources have pointed out that their criticisms smack of class warfare. Rick Santorum says the attacks on Romney are attacks on capitalism, and Buzzfeed Politics ran a story on “Rick Perry, Communist.”

Today, Politico reports, Gingrich apologized for “going too far.” ABC news reports that Rick Perry has dropped the “vulture capitalism” line from his stump speeches.

Your take: Are the attacks fair? Or are Perry and Gingrich slamming legitimate capitalism?

Foolish politicians, and that includes Republicans that think that this will win the hearts of the middle ground.

The roll back will not be simple, the 100 year plan for Maxism was not done overnight.
Both US Grant's corruption, and the pre-Marxian attempts at erecting a central bank, show that these were mere power grabs, unrelated to Marx's antiquated, unexplored, shallow views. In Hamilton's case, it was because he was too foolish not to support a strong central government.

BTW, an early example of exploring socialists' views and working out the logical consequences is Eugene Richter's *Pictures of the Socialistic Future*. Marx was too much of a pseudointellectual poser to do the job himself. But, for example, the decline in wealth, the rise of wildly imbalanced budgets, rules denying people a meaningful choice of employment, and edicts murdering people who tried to escape foreshadowed the history of the Soviets and of Hitler's National Socialism.

Funny, it seems to be the Republicans who want to make it easier to abuse the system by removing common sense regulations.

It seems to me that true Americans would oppose such abuses of the system.

Trying to get all Americans affordable access to health care is not an abuse of the system. Trying to get corporations to be able to spend unlimited amounts of cash in national elections is.

The GOP hates capitalism because capitalism means competing on a level playing field. The GOP is full of lazy bums who want everything handed to them by bought and paid for politicians.

The GOP is the anti-capitalist party.

To think that 1 man can deny life to tens of millions of people.

If they strike down the Republican individual mandate then the uninsured would be covered by taxation which is clearly constitutional. At that point Medicare for All would be the only path away from the financial devastation of the most corrupt healthcare system in the industrialized world.
