Examining the voter ID lie

There are 4 comments on the Off the Kuff story from Mar 27, 2012, titled Examining the voter ID lie. In it, Off the Kuff reports that:

I've complained quite a bit at how the media in Texas lazily reports the voter ID issue as a simple "he said/she said" dispute when a cursory examination of the facts shows how ridiculous the pro-voter ID case is, so I'll give the Chron some credit for this story that asks whether the facts justify the voter ID law.

Even a third world sewer like mexico has voter photo ID. Certainly a first world country like america needs it. We have 30 million illegals here and we can't let even one of these criminals vote.

Exactly, however, Mexican's Govt doesn't want their people not to be able to vote in OUR country. Amazing, isn't it?

Subverting the will of the people requires their voice be watered down. That's why this administration is completely against voter ID.

Rick Perry spent $12 million dollars and found only 4 cases of a person trying to vote without proper information.

“…every investigation has proven is that the kind of fraud voter ID laws would address – voter impersonation – doesn’t really exist..."

“…the attorney general handled just 20 allegations of election law violations in the 2008 and 2010 elections. Most involved mail-in ballot or campaign finance violations, electioneering too close to a polling place or a voter blocked by an election worker.

Up to 795,955 registered voters in Texas do not have a Texas driver's license and insistence that they obtain a DPS ID card to vote could be problematic in some 70 Texas counties and inner cities that lack a DPS driver's license office.
