In a small county such as ours, where politics run
wild, if we didn't have tenure, alot of us would lose our job. Not because we're not doing our job, but because someone didn't like us, or we did something to offend their friend. Tenure has its good points & its bad points. Teachers that don't do their job, need to go home. There should be a system that allow the board to get rid of these. Yet in a county like our, if you didn't support the last school board member and they find out---look out!!!!

Most jobs are like that in that they involve favoritism and unfair treatment. Tenure only keeps bad teachers and hurts our kids. Don't worry about your job. The state will enact board review laws after the Anti-Union bargaining law is passed. This will give you due process if your job is threatened. it just keeps the worthless NEA/TEa out of it.
It will be the best thing to happen to Tennessee education in a long time. If you are a good teacher, then just sit back and enjoy your career until retirement.

You are an idiot if you think teachers sit.

Its everywhere. If principals, school boards, legislators would do the right thing, there wouldn't be a need for unions. So if they will behave, teachers will let go of the union thing. Fair? lets shake on then Nashville.........If the governor and legislators can do business without giving their buddies big money deals then there wouldn't be the problems there are now.
