The slick sentence structure in the article would have one think it was Republicans introducing "racial politics" into the South, when in fact it was the Democrats. Democrats opposed the first modern assaults on racial prejudices and separate educational opportunities in the South, when Republicans introduced action to equalize rights. Democrats have always tried to advantage common populist thinking, ignorant, or not. Today, Democrats depend upon the 20% of their base, who are involved in illegal drugs and other criminal activities.
