the prison has about 80 vacant positions right now! food stewarts, maint. workers, co's, jobs that start at about $20,000 and up with benifits. Gov. Bredesen doesn't want to fill these state jobs, instead, he want to save the state money and release 4500 inmate from prison. innstead of stronger laws and longer sentencing, he needs to save money at the cost of YOUR SAFETY! YOU could be working for the state making good money and benifits and keeping criminals in prison, but, they want to save state $'s! Figure that out. Where is all the money from the lottery. the kids can't get it to go to college! Must be in the rainy day fund. It's F@*KING RAINING here!

175 new jobs, thats nothing! 175,000 new jobs would still be nothing. The jobs were sent to Mexico by your elected officals letting the NAFTA pass. Thats treason in my book. What say you?

DHS of Lauderdale County sent me a letter about the 175 jobs IF I met the requirments. All were met except having a child 18 yrs. old or less. Excuse me but at my age I am not having another child on the basis that I might get a job. Is there ever going to be anything in this county for mature workers who are not having a child every year just to stay on welfare? We can't get most benefits unless we are over 55 or have young children at home. There is nothing for those of us that are in the middle. Ripley should look for ways to improve this county instead of using money to redo the square, which is a bigger mess than it was. There is nothing to draw people here.I would like to see an honest poll of who thinks the new square is worth the expense.Has anyone watched the video on the internet advertising Ripley and the improvements? Shows alot of outdoor cafes and boutiques. Haven't seen any here in my lifetime.I am sorry to say that to make a living most have to leave the county.

about the 175 jobs in Ripley, when you go to the employment office they look dumbfounded when you ask they say no jobs in Ripley. Believe me I have tried. I am 52 years old and have never gotten an interview any where from the employment office. If you are not connected they do not have time for you.Maybe employers should post job openings at our local Wal-mart community board.

I heard that Cole's is getting rid of the employees that work there to hire people that the government will be paying their paychecks.Check with them for a job they are doing the opposite of what the stimulus was supposed to be used for.

Maybe we could tax all of those empty factories sitting around taking up space for non-use of commercial property. That would bring alot of money to the county.
