What really rubs me the wrong is the shool district has been in finacial trouble for years.
A couple of years back they wanted a tax increase to build a 50 million dollar high school and the people of Cahokia voted against a tax increase for that.
The new schools that were built or added onto are now two that they want to close along with preschool for the little kids.
All these years the school board has wasted so much money and now they want to cut education for the children by closing these schools just for sports.
There have already been 70 teachers and staff from these schools who have lost their jobs just so a handfull of people can run around a track or play football.
Education is what determines how far you can get in life not your ability to run up and down in sports.

Although I agree that education is the most important, sports also play an important role in our children's lives. One, alot of the good kids participate in sports and keep their grades up because of them. Two, sports are the only way many will go to college. Three, you take all the sports and extra curricular activities away and see how fast Cahokia spirals farther into crime and shootings. There will be no incentive, no purpose, nothing to look forward to.

With the closing of the two schools and moving the moving the high school from School of Choice. The schools can have pe, art and music for the younger chiildren. With out the pe, art and music school would let out before 2:00 PM. What will the younger children do until their brothers and sisters or parents get home?

Well said, we just had one young man that played football in Cahokia sign with the Saints after he finished college. He had good grades and look where it took him. We have several track players going to different colleges because of grades and sports.

My brother was a student at the Cahokia high school and always got good grade grades and excelled at anything he did including sports.
This was back in the 60's and different era than now. He made a mistake by skipping school one day with a friend of his and his friend trashed his parents car and it got back to the school.
The driver of the car was expelled and my brother too even though he had done nothing wrong except skipping school 1 day.

He was 17 at the time and joined the Army and was in the 101 first airbone division but was transfered and was clerk typist because of his intelligience.

When he came out of the Army he tried a manual labor job and he said this is not for me and got an office job thanks to education he got from the military and from that point on he worked his way up..

He had a family but still had his job and spent 10
years going to college at night. He got a BA degree and then a Masters degree.

He learned what an education could do and has made good money most of his life because of his efforts.

Great story, Trucker. Now tell the story of how you ended up as a welfare alcoholic who's family wants nothing to do with him and who spends day and night on Topix talking to himself.

You go first Pop's Girl!! Tell everyone how you managed to get 3 children killed while you were out getting drunk and high and ignoring the kids.
You are a prize of a woman, get the kids killed cause you wouldn't pay your drug dealer what you owed.
