Daniels, in accepting Paynes resignation, blasted critics for using the situation for political gain. Still, if the governor didnt know about Paynes personal case being handled by the department, Daniels should be asking why he didnt.
Daniels comments after the resignation made it sound as if he was willing to let Payne off the hook. But Payne was correct that it would be difficult to operate the highly personal affairs of DCS with his own case casting a shadow.
