I wonder if Mr Love was aware of this or if it was done without his knowledge by a supporter. Either is possible and believable.

If you read the Tribune Star article it clears things up a bit. Mr. Love not only is aware of the pamphlet but he endorses it and wants to get it out to as many people as possible. This type of campaign activity is slimy and disgusting. I know that there is always going to be one candidate who chooses to look at the negative in others, but it is entirely different if you fabricate it. I prefer my candidates to focus on the positives they can bring to the office. That is the type of person who should be in office.

Looks like a pattern of lies is emerging from the Love/Ellis campaign. Today's installment is below, courtesy of the Tribune-Star. It's front page news in the print edition.

That version includes the full text of the ad, which I couldn't find on tribstar.com .

Nation calls foul on Love political ad

Arthur Foulkes
The Tribune-Star, April 30, 2011

TERRE HAUTE — A broadcast political ad on behalf of Democrat mayoral candidate Mick Love is being questioned by his opponent, Fred Nation, who says he’s the unnamed target of falsehoods and innuendo.

The political ad, which aired Friday on local radio, feature a man and woman discussing next week’s primary election. The man asks the woman which candidate she plans to support. The woman states she is “not voting for that guy from Indy.”

Nation, who lives in Terre Haute but works in Indianapolis, believes that’s a reference to him.

He also believes the statement merits possible legal action to have the ad taken off the air, but acknowledged there is little time remaining before Tuesday’s vote.

“This is crazy,” Nation said at his Wabash Avenue campaign headquarters Friday afternoon. Love is the Harrison Township assessor and should know Nation has lived for decades on North Seventh Street in Terre Haute, he said.

Love, reached by telephone Friday afternoon, said he knows Nation is from Terre Haute. He also notes that the commercial never mentions the name of either of his opponents, Nation or Clarence Soughers.

“The only name that’s mentioned in that whole thing is my name,” Love said.

Nation said he asked Love by telephone Friday morning to pull the ads. Love acknowledged the request, saying,“[Nation] called me to complain about [the ad].

When asked to whom the ad refers, Love said,“I don’t know. It doesn’t refer to Fred. It doesn’t mention his name. That’s just conversation between two people.”

The radio ad, which is about 30 seconds in length and was paid for by the Love campaign, also states that “Mick Love is the only real Democrat.” Nation on Friday noted he formerly worked for Democrat Gov. Evan Bayh, and for his father, Democrat U.S. Sen. Birch Bayh. Nation also produced voting records, which showed he has voted in 13 Democratic Party primaries since 1994.

Nation said this latest ad is part of a pattern of incorrect statements about him. Earlier in April, Nation objected to a Love campaign flier that indicated that Nation supports Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels’ agenda. When asked whether he had specific evidence backing that allegation, Love said he believed it to be true, but could not cite specific proof. He also noted Friday that the flier did not mention Nation by name.

“This has got to stop,” Nation said. Such advertisements and statements can discourage good, qualified candidates from seeking public office, he said.

Love, Nation and Soughers are the three Democrats running in Tuesday’s mayoral primary. The winner will face Republican Mayor Duke Bennett in the November General Election.

I'd actually vote for Nation if he'd put Burke in a prominent role.

If Nation gets to be mayor, his will be the only job brought to Terre Haute. I suspect the same guy that pulled Burkes strings will pull Nations..... any guesses who that is?

The litany of desperate lies cooked up by the Ellis/Love campaign is readily evident here on the Topix Forum. Let's hope Terre Haute voters see through them and vote for Fred Nation in tomorrow's election.

I am sure the regular readers of Topix recognize the various posts made by the Love/Ellis clan.Their silly talking points have been replayed over and over. I think it would be fair if they could tout some position of their candidate which suggests he would better serve this community. Alternatively, they could criticize a position publicly taken by Nation. They can do neither. In stead they keep repeating their publicly refuted falsehoods which have become a public joke on themselves.

Not unlike the Burke/Nation clan. Seems to me that street runs both ways.

Oh, what public position has Nation taken? Say he wants to bring jobs... How's he gonna do that? Isn't that what Love is saying also? Neither is saying how they will do that. I guess Nation would at least bring one job to Terre Haute.... his....
