You're right and it's the end game now. The Reps, with the Dems arguing for posterity's sake but secretly cheering on the Reps, will go after any big money bucket so they can feed their wealthy friends and super corps that keep them in office. For now, it's Medicare. In a few years when that money is all pissed away, they will go after SS. When that is chewed up they will go after IRA's and special taxes. The collapse will occur when all of the money is gone and we are left with nothing.
The Ryan Plan(with spineless Republicans hiding behind it) is incredibly misleading. One, if there is such an overwhelming fiscal emergency then why does it ONLY apply to citizens born after 1957? The reason they protected everyone born prior to 1957 is because that is where the bulk of the REP supporters can be found in the electorate. Statisticians have told them this is the sweet spot for the cut off.
Yup. The government has promised the 79 million baby boomers 120 trillion dollars more in SS and Medicare than tax money collected. There is NO way to pay them yet Ryan promises them they will get Medicare as it is. You are so right. Most of the tea party voters are either on SS and Medicare or about to go onto those two programs, and the Repubs need their votes to get the White House and to take control of the Senate. I think the Repubs thought if they said they would give Medicare to the baby boomers, they would go ahead and vote Repub. But, even though the Fox viewers/tea tards are not very bright, anyone knows when they are losing money or medical care. Those people are smart enough to figure out that if the Repubs want to end Medicare later on, if you put all of them in office, what's to stop them from ending SS and Medicare right away? It's funny how people can be easily lead and uninformed but all of them understand losing government money and government medical care. The Repubs miscalculated. I see where the tea party polls about 80 percent FOR keeping Medicare. All that stuff about they hate socialism and no government health care, OMG, this is all they are fighting over, keeping their social programs.

Now Fox has told them to hate the Dems and to vote Republican, so they have to hate the Dems, but the Repubs will end Medicare and SS, which is all they are all after. Now what will the Fox/tea tard loons do? And, oh no, Mr. Bill, Beck is no longer there to tell them who to hate and blame and what to say. They will all go away and stop voting, IMO.

Can you see the government trying to pay the 79 million baby boomers the 120 trillion in SS and Medicare? It would be a payout of about 5-6 trillion dollars per year. The Repubs will come out in about two more years with that look on their faces that Bush had the day he came out and said the entire economy was going under, and they will say Medicare and SS are now bankrupt, emergency measures have to be made right now. It all has to go only to indigent people now, it is at financial collapse. They wait until it is a total crisis and there is no way out until they deal with things. That way there is no way out for the public, they can't stop the politicians from doing what they want to do.

Even if Obama survives 2012 for a second term, the opponent will be Biden in 2016. Biden, who couldn't even win a primary, will be easy to beat. I still don't think America will consider Jeb Bush in 2016 though.
I think new blood, like a Barack, will be the best bet in 2016-possibly hispanic or female..I'll be 50 years old then-an official geezer!

Well I can see with all these posts, no body knows or cares who Huntsman is.
The R's and Baggers don't even want to talk about Huntsmann. He's in the group of Cain, The Quitta, Chump, Paul, Neuter, Bach The Wack, Rudy 9/11, etc.- just another R loser.

R's know it, Baggers know it - Huntsmann is DOA.

No wonder nobody wants to talk about him.

Anyway, Huntsmann is old news - this week, the Bagger with illusions of grandeur is this Corkey guy. If you'll note, nobody wants to talk about Corkey either.

I don't think it is an electorate that hungers so much for socialized programs but wants what they were promised because they were forced to pay into it their entire lives.

We now know that both parties took advantage of that arrangement by gladly pissing away the benefits from future generations. Both parties must be punished if they expect to have any influence over changing what they promised.

Who in the hell convinced Huntsman to run? How did that discussion play out?

HUNTSMAN: The wife has been ogling at other men when we are out lately. I have decided to run for president in an effort to reinvigorate and rehabilitate my limp-wristed image. With my vast experience in the bureaucracy, coupled with my ability to verbally fellate others, I should be a shoe-in at least for VP.

TRUSTED ADVISOR #1: Oh you would make a very strong and powerful presidential candidate. Come to think of it, if you and Romney were on the same ticket, well America would thirst and hunger for your leadership. Just the powers in your loincloth alone....

HUNTSMAN: OK, OK, you've sold me. Wait until I tell the wifey. She'll be fully devoted to my stable from here on out.

TRUSTED ADVISOR #2:(under light snickering) Ahem, we may as well practice addressing you as Mr President.

HUNTSMAN: Say, I really like that idea. Let's have the whole office doing that.

TRUSTED ADVISOR #1: Oh, yes sir, in fact there is a contest.....

HUNTSMAN: I already feel like a winner! People are finally looking up to me.
