It's simple. Issue a warning to the areas believed to be in danger. People either stay or go. If they need help evacuating, such as the elderly, the government should help them. But if you stay, then you take ALL the risks, and no one should be bothered to rescue you from your own stupidity.

"Some not so sure"

"Some" people think God was telling us to quit "spending in Washington".

Some people shouldn't ever have a soapbox to speak from!

Anyone who listened to NYC Mayor Bloomberg was either ignorant or a fool; probably both.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
Dean Obeidallah: People quick to blame weather forecasters if prediction even slightly off

But he says that's not fair; weather is capricious, and forecasters should be respected

He says it's galling when weather people seem giddy, enthusiastic and get it wrong

Obeidallah: Disrespect them and they may turn on you, leave you to figure it out on your own

Turn off the Hollywood weather channel, and go back to watching Real Housewives / Sisters / Daughters.

Why do folks in the northeast, particularly those in NYC, think they're God's gift to the USA, and why is every bit of bad luck that besets them the single worst tragedy in US History?? I have news for you stupid Yankees. Strong winds, torrential rains and power outages are every-day occurrences in Florida. Oh, and remember the flooding in the Dakotas earlier this year?? Stop whining and get over yourselves!

It's one thing to choose to live in a hellhole, and quite another to experience an unusual weather event. It's like floridians whine about ice hitting the orange groves.

Yeh, why is it that red states just simply cannot ever pay for themselves!?!??! Why is it that the US Government has to give those states more than they turn into the fed?

And I'm sure "Strong winds, torrential rains and power outages" are the reason people flock to FLA to vacation!!!

Must everything turn ito a political argument? People flock to Florida to vacation because they are stupid. The place is a hot, humid, bug-infested jungle. Only a complete moron would pay $500 for the "privilege" of standing in line all day with his family at an over priced amusement park in 100-degree heat.
