Write Diaz and let him know how reminiscent his stand on gay marriage is of the same sort of people who try to keep Hispanics from emigrating to this country.

So the governor says "all citizens of the state must be treated equally under the law." and this person believes that gays should continue to be treated as second class citizens because his belief structure does not allow for equality under the law?

I think the Senator needs to reconsider "representing" all the people in his district before he decides to oust the governor.

Diaz is a ASS and a disgrace to the Democrats. The democrats should kick him out.

(And I'm NOT a Democrat !)

I support Governor Paterson, and the Marrage Equality bill.

I HAVE called my state senator, and I emailed him and told him that i SUPPORT this bill and that he should also.

I urge ALL New Yorkers to call and/or write your New York senator and urge them to SUPPORT Marriage Equality !

I'm a person of faith and Patterson's stance on equality does NOT insult me. Bigotry does!

Then tell Diaz. He OBVIOUSLY doesn't believe in Freedom of Religion nor the separation of church and state.

Insulted ALL people of faith?!!!

Apparently bigotry is the defining aspect of "faith" to this idiot, and things like kindness, love, and, y'know,*belief in a deity* are so unimportant that they don't qualify as faith without a hefty dose of hatred ready to be leveled on command at groups this one person doesn't like?

Then again, I shouldn't be surprised, as it's coming from somebody who apparently believes the heterosexuality of a marriage outweighs love, mutual resepect, the desire to share a life together, and all the other things that actually provide marriage with meaning.

Diaz is a d*ckwad and always has been. I also challenge him to find a date on the calendar that's not close to some annoying relgious holiday or another.

The idea that politicians are required to time their statements so as not to interfere with religions and their practices is inane. Diaz is the one who should be removed from office. I think the gay community should hold a rally demanding he be dumped at the same time this lunatic is trying to incite the Hispanic community into some riotous activities.

I know you will take this seiously, because you are a serious person.
How do you feel about beastiality?
Most dogs love their masters and some masters really love their dogs.
People have been outcast because of this practice.
There is some mention about it in that old book.
You may have heard about it being and abomination and such nonsense.
It's not relevant for an enlightened progressive people.
So I am curious would you allow it? Or is there a line that you draw in YOUR discrimination?

Oh Nooooooooo! Here we go again!
Who CARES what those nut-bag Pentacostals think? If they truly believe their religion, they would be too busy feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and visiting jails to be worried about gay people getting married. Got to demonize somebody so it makes you feel "better than," don't you?
Granted, there is freedom of religion in this country, but there is no freedom from idiocy, now is there? Too bad.
Time for some chlorine in the Pentacostal gene pool. Maybe they can baptize their members in "stupid juice" so they at least will have an excuse other than IT'S IN THE BIBLE!!!!! Please, Mary.....everything is in the Bible...even gay love affairs....but then, what would Pentacostals know about love?

Personally, I think bestiality is icky and wouldn't have anything to do with it.

Would I make it a criminal offense ? No.

Isn't it amazing how similar Diaz's reaction is to radical Muslim organizations such as the Taliban who took such offense at the Danish cartoons of the prophet Mohammed!

Evidently, we're the only ones who see the parallel.

Beastiality has nothing to do with this topic!?!

How and what two consenting adults spend their life is their business and they should be treated equally under the law period. If you don't have something constructive to add, go to a Rick Warren or one of those other religious hypocrits message boards.

"If I were Governor Paterson, I would abstain from going to St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the welcoming ceremony and to celebrate Mass."

Is that a threat? Sure sounds like one. I'm not surprised, tho. The ways of the Highly Religious have always confused me. They preach "love thy neighbour" and then go out to Kill said Neighbor because they are of a different religious belief!(If you doubt it, take a look at the real root of about 80% of all the wars there've been for the last 3000 years.)

And, yeah, re the Immigration Bill... I've already spent 20 of the last 24 months out of a job because of illegals taking the sort of things a person like me is qualified for (someone without some sort of college degree) and now he wants them to be INVITED HERE!?! No freakin way!

Humans don't marry for the same reasons they used to (to have enough people to help on the farm or to have guaranteed offspring to leave the manor to). Now, we can marry for love and love alone. And if you're in love, what does it matter if you're a man & a woman, man & man, or woman & woman?

Diaz needs to get it through his head that this is no different from women wanting the vote... Blacks and Hispanics wanting an end to being treated like second-class citizens... It's all about equality. Just because you can't pick most of us out of the crowd because of our gender or the colour of our skin, it doesn't make us any less of minority in search of equality.

We can't marry who we want. We can't file taxes as a couple, even if we live the other 364 days of the year as such. 90% of the time, any PDAs are deeply frowned upon, even if the M/W couple behind us in line are practically undressing each other (and the woman next to us is saying with a sigh, "Ah, young love...").

We are NOT equal. It is NOT fair. And I deeply resent the constant use of religion as the unhearing brick wall I have to try and get past.
