Cuomo's illegal pander

There are 8 comments on the www.nypost.com story from Jun 12, 2011, titled Cuomo's illegal pander. In it, www.nypost.com reports that:

In a solid first half-year in office, Gov. Cuomo has largely avoided cheap political pandering. Alas, a troubling recent decision breaks that admirable run.

Earlier this month, Cuomo bowed to special-interest pressure and “suspended” New York’s participation in Secure Communities, a federal database that identifies criminal suspects in custody who may be illegal aliens.

Cuomo cited “concerns about the implementation of the program as well as its impact on families, immigrant communities and law enforcement.”

This is the guy whio is responsible for the housing crisis that wee are now in. When he was Secretary of HUD he told the banks that they better start lending to more minorities who couldn't qualify for mortgages and he didn't care how many foreclosures it caused. He threatened to bring janet Reno and the full weight of the DOJ on them if they didn't comply. In order for the banks to accomplish this they came up with things like No Doc Loans,Interest only LIBORS, 80/20 financing etc etc. And the asswipes of N.Y. elected him to office...great job N.Y.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Justice Department today announced the filing and
resolution of a lawsuit against a Chicago lender. First American
intentionally avoided serving the credit needs of residents and small
businesses located in minority neighborhoods, a practice commonly referred
to as redlining. First American has agreed to invest $5.7 million and open
new branches in these minority neighborhoods to settle the lawsuit.

"All Americans should be able to access the financial markets without regard
to their race," said R. Alexander Acosta, Assistant Attorney General for
Civil Rights."We will continue to oppose vigorously any discrimination in
credit and lending services."

Race was not the problem...it was the ability to pay that was the issue.
