He doesn't want the key tot he city. He wants to be able to have a home cooked meal from wife. He wants to be able to hold his wife and children again. He wants to be able to live the American dream.

That's why we fight. For our families first. Then our friends. Then ourselves then our country. No matter what anyone says, it's always about family, honor and courage.

Too bad not many people have the last two.

He fought and died for Rhonda’s right to shoot her racist mouth off....

He died for no reason.
He had no effect on me being about to shoot my mouth off.
He wasn't defending America or Americans.
It was nothing but a wasted life.

I see there’s no denying the racist part…

Can you really pin it down and credit one individual soldier for winning us freedom (including freedom of speech)?

If so, maybe we should have dismantled all military after that and just went on out marry way…

Or is it the continuation of the world’s top military force that keeps all enemies away and keeps us all free and keeps this the greatest nation on Earth?

All soldiers contribute to defending our freedoms. All soldiers count. This young soldiers death is unfortunate, but is certainly isn’t for nothing. He will be honored.

Rhonda’s life is insignificant. Her death couldn’t compete with a rat fart. You will not be missed. You did not contribute positively to society. You are a waste of life.

None of these so called "wars" in the middle east have threatened America's freeedom or freeedom of speech.
He died because of nothing, maybe lies of George W Bush, but he still died for nothing.
If anyone protected my freedom of speeech, it would be the people how run Topix. As Topix has allowed us to speak our minds freely on the internet, when other communist media websites like 10WHEC, 13WHAM, and the D&C have deleted our comments and blocked us from making comments. And they don't tell anyone they do, so others reading comments allowed, may believe those are ALL of the comments and no-one has a different point of view.

If he deserved to be honored, then stop calling him a soldier!!!
He was a Marine. There is much difference between a Soldier and a Marine. And if you really cared about the U.S. forces that protect "your freedom", then you should have at least known that.

It may seem at this time that so many have died for "nothing", but eventually history will show that is not the case.

What have you been listening to George W???

Yes, history will end up showing that the 2 wars we started only made these people hate us more. Families who lost loved ones because of our troops actions will be seeking revenge on the U.S.
The next terroists will have reasons to attack us, thats what history will show.

Look at the UK, who is giving out millions of dollars to each prisonor that the America has torchered, even tho America will not admit they did the torcher.

The ignorance of the above comments astound me.
@Rhonda: I sure hope that none of the family members of this brave marine ever see your hateful, racist, ignorant comments. You should be ashamed of yourself.

And I love that everyone keeps blaming George W. Bush every time a soldier dies. This marine died in Afghanistan THIS YEAR! Not during his presidency. If you knew anything about anything you would know that the decision was made to go into Afghanistan by a 20-1 vote. It was not George Bush's doing, it was our entire government. And oh yeah, by the way, didn't our CURRENT president just send MORE troops to Afghanistan and further our war efforts in this country? I haven't noticed anyone saying anything negative about your precious Barry Obama.

Oh, and by the way, why don't you idiots look up a little something called the "Rules of WarFare". These state that in Iraq and Afghanistan, our soldiers are only allowed to shoot if they are shot at first. A civilian could run at them w/ a bomb in his hand, screaming, and our troops could do nothing about it unless they are willing to be charged with war crimes.

I don't know where these above commenters get their information on "innocent people being murdered by our military", but you need to get your facts straight. I am so very grateful for every man and woman that serves this country to keep our freedoms protected and keep our children safe. If you hate this country and the people who serve it so much, move to Canada, they never go to war with anyone, and we don't want you here.

This is my country. So maybe you and the people who are all for being in wars and killing people for no reason should move to Canada?

And you wrote:
""And I love that everyone keeps blaming George W. Bush every time a soldier dies.""

Why do you keep leaving out Marines????? You want me to respect this dead Marine, yet you kept calling him a soldier, which is very disrespectful.

Calling a Marine a soldier is not as disrespectful as you make it seem. And please do not say that i do not know what I'm talking about because my battalion was replaced by 7th Marine Div, in Fallujah, Iraq. Look it up. Been with them for months. Also went to training school for a month down at Camp Lejune, NC. Had a ball with the Marines there. They were very respectful. Competitive, yet still respectful.

what's more disrespectful, calling a marine a soldier, or saying that a deceased marine died for nothing?

Talk low, talk slow, and don't say anything stupid.
John Wayne

a couple of you 'brave" citizens should read that again.

The young Marine soldier left a family behind. He thought he was doing the right thing. Fighting for ALL of us. That's the way it works.

I, for one, would have liked to have shaken his hand, and bought him a coffee.

Here's hoping his bride and kids can find comfort, in kowing that he died, thinking he was doing the right thing.

It is very disrespectful to call a Marine a soldier, cause if he wanted to be a soldier he could have took the easy route and joined the Amry instead.

And I will tell you that you don't know what your talking about, cause there is no such thing as a "7th Marine Division".
