After Bush/Cheyney abandoned the victims of Hurricane Katrina, Jindal cuts his State Emergency Dept.-and he stated the Coast Guard/Navy and the President were not serious about the Louisiana Gulf-that's a lie
I reside on the Gulf Coast-you obviously do not.A full WEEK prior to landfall, the print/electronic media are screeching warnings of the approaching storm. You cannot enter a bar/grocery store/church/gas station and hear anything but the storm being discussed.Prior to Katrina rounding Fla and entering the Gulf,I was movin';making calls to friends to line up a roof over my head in case the worst happened, getting a lg. plastic bin in which to place legal documents, stocking up on non-perishables.The elderly and the disabled,we owe assistance to from a moral standpoint. The able-bodied need to hoist themselves off the sofa and save themselves. If you can make it to the casinos and the liquor store, you can get TWENTY MILES north of town to higher ground.Sell your TV or a piece of jewelry, give the money to a neighbor for a ride out.
The govt. leased a cruise ship, docked it in my town, and used it for housing for 'Katrina Victims',who then promptly trashed the boat so badly that millions of taxpayer dollars were spent to re-furbish the ship prior to returning it to the cruise line- so spare me your 'Oh,the poor VICTIMS' BS that you learned from the liberal hand-wringers.
A friends' college-student daughter worked in one of the high-end stores in my town and related how The Poor Katrina Victims used the emergency $500 Red Cross cards for Coach handbags, Gucci sunglasses and anything that carried a 'designer' label.
