High School Students Take on Bachmann and Creationists

May 28, 2011 Full story: videocafe.crooksandliars.com 84

MSNBC featured two very bright high school students on Hardball and then on Lawrence O'Donnell's Last Word and seeing these kids stand up to the history revisionists like Michele Bachmann or these people trying to push creationism into our school kids as science gives me some hope for our future.

I like (sarcasm intended) how Bachmann and the GOP/TEA Birther McCarthyist are supposedly against growing government but want to use it to push their religious beliefs.

Creationism should be taught in Christian Sunday school. If they want to push it into the secular government public school systems then evolution should be forced to be taught in Sunday school. But I am strong believer in the separation of church and state and believe evolution should be taught in secular government schools and creationism should be taught in Christian Bible schools without interference from either sides.

Lots of people want to push lots of beliefs. The state atheists of the 20th century pushed their beliefs and it resulted in the democide of over 110 million people, the imprisonment of many tens of millions more, the separation of children from their "religious" parents who were raised and indoctrinated in state run orphanages where they were peer-persecuted for being the children of "religious" parents who themselves were declared "political criminals" and shipped off to hard work gulags or imprisoned in mental institutions and used as guinea pigs by the state (after all anyone who believes in God must be insane right?), the destruction of a large amount of historical literature, artifacts, and architecture merely because it was deemed "religious" and so deemed unprofitable to humanity or the state.

And the wing-nuts respond, on a 16 year old: My and Wayne Myers said the comments on conservative websites alarmed them most. Several commenters threatened to publish the Myers' home address.

Others threatened violence, including rape, they said.

"They're targeting me just because I'm challenging Bachmann," Amy said.

Amy's challenge is arguably unrealistic: Few if any sitting members of Congress would actually agree to debate a teenager.

Bachmann, talked up by the Republican right wing as a 2012 presidential contender, is often the subject of unflattering press. An aide said Tuesday the office would have no response to Myers' challenge.

The Courier-Post had scheduled a video interview with Amy Thursday. On Wednesday, a somewhat panicked-sounding Wayne Myers phoned to cancel, citing the alleged threats.

"I got a call from the principal that the main office received threatening mail," said the computer programmer and single father.

The truth should be respected. Wishing it away does not change the people who suffered and die under it but only sets up humanity to repeat it. We don't want a repeat of state atheism. It caused enough death and destruction to humanity the last time it was tried eventually taking down the very political systems that relied on it for their philosophical justification.

No one should be surprised by the cowardly threats against this young lady. Thuggery and violence have been the hallmark of right wingers for decades.

Intellectualism wins then.

Sorry, Einstein, Galileo, Isaac Newton.

There is no God.

Have it your way, people.

God save American, if he can on behalf of those with faith.

These high schoolers lauded for challenging Bachmann and Creationism should not try to challenge Allah though. This is the beauty of America and living here. I hope they included this in their debates.

If you put this argument they made, to Einstein and the rest of the scientists, they would counter that just because science appears to defeat Creationism, the corollary does not hold true that there is no higher divinity. That would be a FAILED GRADE. That is not how Science and deductive reasoning works.

Liberals laugh at Jesus Christ and bow to allah.

Face it, starting with the White House, the entire liberal estbablishment is corrupt to the bone marrow.

Th liberal education system is brainwashing and drugging kids in order to dumb them down.

Liberals are the racists who fuel riots and tells welfare recipients to loot from those who have more than they do.
Liquor, cigarettes, and firearms are their top priority of items to steal.

Liberals condone and support illegal Mexicans and muslims, who have brought crime statistics to a new higher level.

Liberalism and crime are synonymous.
One supports the other.

Well then you should glad this is not Sudan where the law takes over actually rules on rape and stoning for challenging the Bible. Which do you want? Lets be very clear on whether you support freedom of speech or not. You cannot have it both ways. Either you support freedom of speech in America with laws that convict the perpetrators of crime or you support Sharia law. If you want to live here where threats against speech are outlawed then defend America, but don't be a two-timer and defend the muslim religion and Sharia law as Obama does here and in the Middle East. Stay focused.

Huh? WTF? This is a 16 year old girl, you are a "Sharia law" nut job teabagger. This girl, all she wanted to do was DEBATE a teabagger on CONTITUTIONAL LAW of the U.S. and you and your nut-job teabaggers can't compete (and it shows) so you come back with this crap? Pond scum has I.Q. points on you and your vermin scum.

Words and intellectualism obfuscate what is essential. You see it everyday here with the propaganda, circular reasoning, Obama's longwinded speeches which go nowhere and mean nothing when he acts in the opposite direction.

Those who follow intellectualism find themselves confused and in a labyrinthe. We are all endowed with an internal compass which speaks directly to God but many lose themselves behind words and pseudo-intellectualism. The media is an evil. Universities are an institution too, though Democrats would not admit it. Instead of religion they affiliate with universities and schools. Not much different.

My point stupid, was to say we have free speech in American and that threats against a 16 year old is not legal, whereas in the middle east under Sharia law she'd be stoned to death LEGALLY for challenging their Koran and laws. My point again stupid, is to comment that you feel you have one upped the "right wing" with this story and threats against the girl when if fact the opposite is true. This story is about freedome of speech in America more than it is about a challenge to Creationism and the Constitutions . Any one can challenge Creationism and the Constitution here. It's not a big deal. High schoolers are constantly challenging adults. What is a big deal is that they can do it and feel the laws would protect them. This is NOT the case in the middle east and under Sharia Law. They have stoned and raped a girl as young as 11 for not obeying the Koran in Sudan. Enough said.

Again, Huh? How in your teabagger mind equate "sharia" law and freedom of speech? My point was that, just challenging a teabagger to a Constitutional and History DEBATE has brought out the likes of you and your vermin to expose the address and telephone # of a 16 year old over a challenge to a DEBATE. Yeah, I would stone her "fer sure", just for speaking against/challenging a teabagger. Dumbass.
