UAW raped the industry in good years. A UAW worker costs detroit $80 an hour... a USA toyota worker makes costs the company about 1/2 that.

Why should a UAW worker sticking bolts in wholes make more than a teacher with a college degree?

Wake up!

The real issue is how stupid we'd be to allow the last major segment of American manufacturing to be broken apart and bought up by our foreign competitors in a bankruptcy. Every nation in the world, except ours, uses tariffs, currency manipulation, outright ownership and other tactics to support their auto industry. They do so for national security and economic survival.

If GM, Ford, and Chrysler go into bankruptcy, then China, South Korea, and Japan will buy the factories for 5 cents on the dollar. They'll employ Americans at sweat shop wages and bring in their own engineers and management. All of the raw resources will come from us but the profits, technology, and development will flow back to them. They will have colonized our country without firing a shot.

Don't think it could ever happen? Look what happened to the steel industry or our television manufacturing.

So. Korea exports 700,000 vehicles/yr to the USA but imports less than 5,000.
