McDonnell makes all the sounds of an intelligent, thoughtful person, but his actual proposals argue otherwise.

"He has also proposed increasing vehicle registration fees, and tacking on additional fees for drivers of fuel efficient vehicles."

Why should I, a driver of a fuel efficient vehicle, have additional fees tacked on?

This proposal would not be an incentive to buy fuel efficient vehicles!

Exactly. One reason why we are short in funds in the transportation department is because of our already low gas tax rate, among the lowest in the country.

If we want to become less dependent on that fuel, raise the tax. Same rationale applies to cigarettes.

Why penalize everyone with a sales tax, for those who drive their gas guzzlers?

Bozo and the Republican Party have gotten this state and country in a bind with their tax cuts and pledge to not raise taxes BS. I said it a long time ago that taxes would have to be raised but the Republicans said we aren't raising taxes. Roads are falling apart as well as many other projects and this clown is finally realizing that we have to raise taxes. Well Duh! Bozo realized it long ago but he like the rest of you Republican idiots wanted Mittens in the White House so we needed to keep quiet on our pressing problems. Like Bush, Bozo Bob McDonnell will leave this state in terrible shape when he leaves office. If a Democrat is elected Governor you stupid Republicans will blame it all on him.

He'll raise the sales tax and the vehicle taxes and then the Democrats will add the gas tax back to its full extent when they get back in power and then we'll just have all the taxes to contend with. Btw, the Republican threat to not pay anybody in the Senate until they come up with a budget is a joke. They will still get paid; it will just be in escrow until the budget is passed. They are all so rich that not getting a paycheck on time will mean nothing to them. They shouldn't get paid AT ALL until they do their job and pass a budget.

The dems want to raise taxes on the middle class [not just the rich] that is where the most money is, they just haven't figured out how to blame it on the republicans. The more of our money the government gets the bigger they grow and have more control over the public. Be careful what you wish for.

Is that why why Bohner and Cantor negotiated a tax increase on the middle class over the 1%? It appears that you've been misinformed.

tax and spend is a phrase that came into being during the Reagan administration. Don't believe for a second that it is a monopoly of either party

- Bush has not been in the White House in over 4-years!! Quit trying to blame that kenwaiian's failures on someone else. They have not passed Federal Budget since you elected obama back in 2008 (Hope and Change my Aunt Fannie!!).

- How in the hell can the Governor of this Commonwealth possibly have any effect on the country's failure? That's like me saying the Maryland Governor and his dumboKrats are the ones who caused our country's strife. Seriously? Only a moron would make such a wild accusation.

That is just IGNORANCE to the highest level. You need to get out of C-ville and get away from UVA before you brain completely turns to mush.

Go back to your Beer Pong tables and leave the political discussion to those of us who are actually pay taxes. Unlike you I don't have my Daddy's Trust Fund to pay for my expenses.

It has taken the "kenwaiian" 4 years to bring this country back from 8 years of Bush you idiot. Boehner,Cantor & Bozo Bob McDonnell have got to be the names of your 3 blow up dolls. I've never seen anyone so in love with what's ruining this country.

Taxes are going to be raised you ignorant people. Grover had the Republicans sign a no tax increase pledge and here we are. Blame it all on Obama if you want but until this country cuts spending it's only going to get worse. Republican's want to cut spending unless it involves their state or district. Look at the whining Bozo Bob did when they were talking about cutting the defense budget costing jobs in the Tidewater area. He was against cutting that spending. It's the same BS and you a fool to think it isn't.
