Full story: NBC29 Charlottesville

Many adjunct instructors at Virginia's 23 community colleges will see their hours cut starting this summer, a move the state is taking to avoid paying health benefits for part-time workers under new federal health reforms.

Like Max Baucus said -- Obamacare's a train wreck. Too bad he didn't read it before forcing it on all of us.

Isn't wonderful that folks can blame Obama in both the public and private sectors by refusing to provide even minimum health care for their employees, and then of course they will be able to pocket the savings! That's the free market for ya'.

More money for the chiefs by depriving the workers, and then blame it on the government instead of the greed and profit motive that is really at play! How convenient.

The conservative side of the aisle should be thanking Obama for giving the business world an excuse to mistreat the workers even more than they already do!

Part timers also get limited retirement contributions, seniority, accrued time off...
More profit for employers AND they get to blame it all on Obama!

Very misleading title. They aren't getting a pay cut; they are getting their HOURS cut. That will translate into a reduction of total income, true, but they will be working less.
A lot of the adjunct faculty have other full time jobs, are specialists in their fields, and teach one or two classes. Give us accurate numbers on how many actually teach "huge course loads of 45 credit hours or more", and maybe this would be a story.
Despite the liberals' beliefs, government must be run like a business. There is only so much money available to spend (it's called a budget). And businesses simply cannot afford to pay for healthcare benefits for part-time workers. It's a simple business decision. I see no reason why government workers should get luxury benefits - that is why we have such huge deficits. Obama and the Democrats pushed the ACA without thinking it through (remember Pelosi's comment about having to pass it in order to read it?) so don't whine about all the rotten parts of it now, unless you were one of the people who encouraged your legislators to vote no on it.
