Frankly, I'm glad that Billy the Kid didn't get pardoned. If he had, he'd just become another rowdy sh!t kicker with a gun.

No story there.

I'm not saying William Bonney was an angel,.. however, historical data suggests that he was only fighting for what he believed in. Part of that, was standing up against scum who were crooked & dirty law men. Just as they exist now, I'm sure low-lives like that existed then!

Billy the kid is historic as he helped settle the Anton Chico settlers when he married a Gutierrez, which may have or may have not drawn offspring, The question: Does Billy the Kid still run in the historical site known as Anton Chico? As a lesson learned perhaps either way it is part of our history and should be embraced,. A mans soul in persuit of happiness.

Let's not forget as well that he was promised a pardon to testify against the corruption, and Murder Inc. that owned the game back then. He was tried in Mesilla, sentenced to death, and then left hanging. He was done dirty by the dirtiest criminal in the state: Governor Axtell. His escape and murdering of Olinger and the other deputy was simply taking his fate into his own hands after being left to die. That's why he is considered a folk hero. Murderer, sure. Great shot, famous for it. A lady's man, hide your daughters. A legend...without question.

pardoning Billy would be like giving amnesty to illegal immigrants, just rewarding illegal behavior!
Glad to hear it

Billy the Kid was a 21 year old gangster.
If he were alive today, he would be one of those gang bangers running around with his pants hanging below his a$$ showing his boxers. He'd be doing drive-by shootings.
Billy the Kid was a thug in his day, and he'd be a thug today.
