In my mind's eye I can see Doe Mountain as many would like to have it, the mecca and the garden of Eden for four wheelers and yokel beer drinkers with the fumes and the noise, the tire ruts/routes, the mud, the washes and gullies they create.
I guess the question is Will they own the whole mountain?
Those impressive representatives from the trail association of east TN or the Eastern United States or whatever? Is that trail association in existence to protect US from the four wheelers OR does it exist to protect the four wheelers from us?

The fumes and noise will not bother anyone unless they live near the trails, and I doubt that's the case since the trails will be on a mountain.

It seems like the people against the trails would want some kind of entertainment in your small town.

People don't live on mountains where you live?

ATV noise carries a long way. Especially when operated by the same sorts of louts who think a motorcycle isn't a motorcycle unless it drowns out every other sound within a quarter mile.

You are AMAZING. The plans "to make Doe Mountain an adventure and recreation area" are merely "in the works", but YOU already know that nobody lives on the part of the mountain where this adventure and recreation will take place.

I'm impressed! Can you also tell us which stocks and bonds to buy to juice our investment portfolios by, say, 40% in 12 months? And the date Jesus is coming back?

they are talking about charging $25 for residents to ride for one day and $50 for nonresidents. i think the only entrance is at the old horse rink on harben hill road.

I do not oppose the use of trails for off the road vehicles. I oppose those ATVs having total and unrestricted use of all the mountain trails. Those riders are only a small percentage of Tennesseans, of Johnson Countians, but some of the property can be set aside for them. What I would oppose would be the establishment of their very own 8400 acre fantasy world and playground. There should be restrictions.
Will those riders repair the trails when they create terrific erosion and damage? I doubt it. When they drive now to the car washes in town, they are washing top soil of landowners down the sewer. In the future Doe Mtn., they will be washing off the soil that belongs to all of us.

I hope our commissioners are not led by the nose but get lots of advice and go on a couple of tours of public land where this is happening.

Oops, I do remember the commissioners who as a group fight the mention of any zoning or protection laws for our county are not in on the administration of the Doe Mtn. project. Perhaps we will be safe. Perhaps the Nature Conservancy and the Board will look after EVERYbody instead of just the loud and rowdies.

Agreed- that JC commissioners don't have a lot of say with the administration of Doe Mountain because nothing would get done!
