According to this article, New York ignored a warning about a big storm which was made more than thirty years ago! I would say it wasn't so much a dismissal of the warning as a realization that anything could happen in thirty years. There was nothing anyone could have done to stop hurricane Sandy from happening and there were never any precautions anyone could have taken that would have made the experience absolutely painless.

It's easy to badmouth New York and New Jersey politicians for failing to plan for the aftermath of severe storms that are KNOWN to periodically hit the area. This is unfair.

The politicians have been busy spending hard earned taxpayer money imposing politically correct laws prohibiting decent women and men from enjoying the simple worker ("middle") class pleasure of partaking in a heavily taxed tobacco product in beer joints, drinking soda pop from containers over the "Government approved" size, conducting an ongoing war against peaceful upstate Indians who sell gasoline and tobacco products to White people for LESS! and laying the groundwork for their forthcoming war against the hated toilet paper users. The hard working political ruling class simply haven't time to worry about storms.

Recent polls suggest most Americans think the rich should pay more in taxes. Wow, there's a shocker! Ask someone who should pay more, and they point to somebody else.

Well, the rich have the money. What would the rest of us pay more with? But granted %75 would have been a bit extreme.

My point exactly. Ask anyone who should pay for anything and they will point to somebody else. We don't need a poll to tell us that.
