Frank are you serious? Do you really think anyone in Rome has a plan for anything? Most of us are still waiting for Joe to publish his plans for moving Rome forward. However, the rumor is some of the DPW will be taking over that building and moving in there. Personally I think we are going to get sadled with another expense to maintain.

I recall reading the space at the Armory will allow the city to sell property currently occupied by DPW elsewhere. Where is that property?

Moving DPW with all of their noisy fume producing equipment into the middle of a highly residential area located near a main playground is not a really well thought out plan! But look where our mayor lives. Is this the person you want planning city development?

Frank tonight's rag explains the plan. I don't quite agree with it, but there doesn't appears that the public has any input on it from what I read.

Well now that we have the Armory lets see how long it takes for the city to transfer or sell the old buildings and property to some of his buddies.

Not sure I quite understand this from an economical view only. Most cities that own armories have given them up and sold them outright because they are outdated with high ceilings and very expensive to heat and maintain....renovating such large space is expensive. Again, just an opinion from a cost conscious tax payer.

Dpw on mill street torn down we have 3 other dumps In the area...the "water front property could be sold along with other renovations going on down thre6 Then u have 2 buildings water dept and armory cut costs, cut boss" and the mayor could keep track of his employees instead of having them waste thousands a month in gas driving around. The old fire station on Black River, the building at the end of James St. across fron the nursey, the other old police station behind the old city hall. That what the guys in the DPW were talking about Friday at the shop. With all that in the Armory, lawn mowers, lights, and offices then where are you going to hold the home shows Joe mentioned?

Frank the city did not evaluate the bldg with professional engineers. Instead, the thought is to "throw" as much in it as they can without a plan. Re-use of NYS Armory facilities has been going on quite awhile and most communities are thoughtful with assessing the bldgs and actually engage the adjacent residents for inclusion in the process.

The Armory motor pool operated there for decades. Sounds like you just need something to whine about.
