This is a huge victory for public service unions.
Utica gets to keep their ambulance service despite:
1. their inability to demonstrate a need.
2. their refusal to reveal the true operating costs.
Sorry 'bout that, taxpayers. Your lobby is ineffective and unheard in Albany.

How much of a kickback is Cuomo going to get from our tax dollars now? The city was able to bypass the court system and head straight for the "you wash my back and I'll wash yours" arrangement with Cuomo. The city will try to maximize profits with the ambulance service now. Not only is the ambulance service already paid for by our tax dollars, any services rendered will be billed to the individual and the insurance companies. So if anyone uses the service they will be double paying for it. If the money made by the ambulance service was used to reduce property taxes in Utica, that would be one thing. But it won't be used for that. It will be wasted by the city government as usual.
