I'm of two minds on this. The jobs would be nice, but call centers are about the worst minimum wage jobs ever. I'd rather dig ditches in the middle of winter!

We might need to get the language classes a boost here though. Some people around here speak worse than the Eastern Europeans and folks from India I usually end up on the phone with.

It's because most of us are gargling our boyfriend's nuts while we're on the phone. At least the right thinking, good god fearing men among us.

It's bad when people critisize jobs. I would rather make minimum wage than ask for a handout. This is what is wrong with our country now. ANONYMOUSE I bet you are taking everything you can get from the government that they will give you. At least they are trying to put Americans to work, what are you doing to help?

They are trying to turn a profit, Dumbass. That's the only role of business. If they could do it without creating a single job, they would.

Nothing wrong with minimum wage. Nothing wrong at all. I don't make that much on disability and I do fine. Obama better keep his hands off my check.

I have a job making far more than minimum wage and I am sure somehow my taxes support you in some way "insider". But really, the part where I said I'd rather dig ditches in the middle of the winter made you assume that I would rather not work than have a minimum wage job? Are you really that hard up to try to pick another fight with me on the internet that you ignore that I said it is one of the worst minimum wage jobs around, not that minimum wage jobs are bad or that people should sit on welfare. What a miserable jackass you must be in real life that your anger drives you to make up things to argue about.

My guess is definitely for a high initial turnover rate. Call centers are brutal places where you're going to get beat to death psychologically by the inane garbage people will call you about and your bosses about call times (IE, keep people on the line for this long or else...)

Want a quick way to lose faith in humanity? Work at a call center.

and if you find 500 to 700 who are willing, can you still find that many with the basic communication skill to talk to people on the phone and be understood while doing it?

I worked for TeleTech, albeit from home, and quit on President's Day 2012 because I had had enough of their unprofessionalism.

I know it was President's Day, but when I am at work, I would expect President's Day trivia not to come from a Supervisor (or anyone on the clock at all). I was supposed to solve Western Union Money Transfer Tech Support problems, so I would need to focus on tech support problems at hand. The company sincerely thinks that asking the irate employee, "How's your day?" or, "How's the weather where you are?" is going to expedite solving the problem. Nothing is ever TeleTech's fault and the management will look for any excuse to blame anyone else. Feel free to ask about other things that occur on the Western Union money transfer contract if you would like. I would adamantly recommend that Hopkinsville residents aim far higher than TeleTech for their employment goals.

Convergys s Clarksville is in constant turnover, but it's a job. I know several people who could not find work anywhere else and finally went to Convergys. They did OK for about 5 to 6 months, but then Convergys started doing screwy things just so they wouldn't have to give people raises. So the folks I know that went to work there found work somewhere else, but at least they had Convergys to keep the utilities turned on and food on the table. The only thing I agree with here is how in the hell are they going to find 500 to 700 people in this town who are willing to work? The only way that will happen is if the army cuts back and soldiers from Fort Campbell are suddenly out on the streets looking for jobs.

Want a quick way to loose faith in humanity... Try to feed the ugley mugs! Try doing it for $2.20 and hour... and pray that the ignoramous drops 50 cents on your table! Try fast food where you are on your feet for 12 to 15 hours and they are always unsatisfied. Atleast they can't see you making idiot faces while you facititate them. Plus the place starts at $9.50. Better then the $7 something you will make through a job service.

I have experience with customer service and as much as people complain about the experience, I rather enjoy it myself. If you are not a "people person" then this not a position I would recommend. You will have your occasional people who call with their panties in a bunch, but hey that's what comes with the territory. You just have to remain professional and do what you need to do to resolve the problem...easy...if you can't handle frustration or wear your heart on your sleeve, no need to apply. BTW the remarks above about race pretty much sucks ass. There is laziness and verbal etiquette issues with the American race...we just happen to live in a community that suffers from Teenage pregnancy and a half ass education because of lack of opportunity and things to do. Ever wonder if this could be a positive boost for this failing community? No...bet you didn't
