Ed Rendell for mayor? Why not?
In this autumn of Philadelphia's discontent, with the schools crippled, a mayor who seems more technocrat than visionary, and a ho-hum field of possible successors, the city turns its lonely eyes to .

Why do we choose to move backwards!?! Rendell did nothing for any neighborhood except for center city and his neighborhood. No city worker would want him back. Shouldn't we want a mayor that will help the city not just his friends. Isn't that what we have in Nutter? Isn't Nutter the closest thing to Rendell anyway, he only takes care of Center city and its residents. We need a mayor, who will protect the interests of those that serve the city and keep this shit hole afloat, not the yuppies who complain about everything and do nothing to help.

2late philly is done
Center city will be fun town and every neighborhood will be a ghetto
Look at the school system and tax system
Abyone who can has already moved out
Unless they are goofy hipsters moving in to cc
But broke kids in their thirties don't make a city they just serve its coffee

The Democratic philosophy also contributed to Philadelphia's downfall so I don't see how a far left partisan like Rendell would do anything but keep the city on its downward trajectory. This downfall isn't only confined to Philly. Detroit, Baltimore and on a larger scale, California are all victims of overtaxing, overspending and overpromising.

Absolutely correct. Should add all of his conflict of interest dealings with Comcast including commentating on Comcrap sports while governor. Using the tax payers dime to come back to Philly on Eagles game day. Using the tax payers money to build the first Comcrap building.
Isn't ironic the ex head Democrat made multi million dollar deals with Comcast who "merged" with the Democrats biggest contributors NBC/GE.
And yes the residential neighborhood of Philadelphia are still feeling the effects of fast Eddie Rendell's neglect in the 1990s and all of his emphasis on center city. West and North Philadelphia got screwed and Center City became a yuppy mess. Even the newer convention center is losing visitors including the flower show which was one of the biggest draws. Center City is a traffic nightmare with parking/parking prices and over priced concessions. Some of Fast Ed's deals had decades of exemptions on taxes which won't start being paid until 2021 I think it is.
The most recent insult came this week during a conference on immigration reform when Rendall dissed Joey Vento who pushed immigration reform and wanted his customers to order in English as "dead" in regards to a query about English as the primary language. He tried to give "solace" to conferenceee.
