Kentucky towns looking to boost tourism on nearby trails and rivers

State and local officials are seeking to transform more than 30 Kentucky towns into gateways to the state's trails and rivers in an effort to boost tourism spending.

Gimme a break, don't get me wrong I hope things work out too. Think about this, your a family of four, with kids ages 8 and 6 living in TN. You decide to go on vacation and ride bikes on bicycle trails. You come to Livingston to ride. you have no where to stay unless you want to stay 20 miles away in London. If you want to you can stay in the slums of Mt Vernon hotels. so you decide to stay in London. Then you come to town the next day to ride you get here and find out there is nowhere to eat. Nowhere to buy a bottle of water. and you have to ride your bicycles on the blacktop roads just like you have in your town. Sounds fun huh!!There is no way in the world I would take my family and kids for a bike ride around Hwy 490. Mark my word Someone will be run over by someone driving under the influence. They need more trails in the woods off the main roads. They need at least a store before anyone will come. I don't know why you think JC is all for the trails. The last thing he wants is someone else to open a store or restaurant and putting his shack of a business out of commission.

people with this attitude is the reason livingston is in the shape it is today.the trail project might not work tomorrow .bot it will benefit the kids growing up today.we dam sure wont know if we don"t try.you can not do anything laying in the bed.give him a chance.just think what livingston would have been without j.c. just give him a chance.and think about what he has done.there will be alot of people miss him when he is gone.

What is in Livingston for people to want to come? Nothing nothing is in Livingston only trails is the roads. They aren't wide enough they need to make trails off the road going through fields and hills. Also have a store to buy stuff bottled water and supply's if they really wanted people to come here.

Hey Bob I said I didn't like people coming on the land trespassing taking things hunting without my permission. I do allow a few to hunt my land but feel it is mine. Don't like or will put up with people poaching on my land. Now if I was approached and talked about a bike trail that is different I would help the community out. My land though wouldn't be very good for a bike with the cliffs and hills. Lots of woods but Bob I feel you could be one who goes out trespassing on others land and hunts thinking it is your right to poach. Sorry Bob big difference stopping you from hunting or poaching and helping the community.

in livingston you have everything you.you have rivers and trails -streams-miles and miles of trails for biking-hiking-horseback riding-four wheelers-hunting.one of the cleaniest towns in eastern k.y. and most of all you have some of the best people in the world.and that is one thing that we do not want to loose.we have finally got rid of most of the riff-rapp.and we are soon to be designated as one of the first trail towns in the state.just think of what that will be worth.just keep on keepin on.

THE ONLY TOWN IN ROCKCASTLE COUNTY THAT WILL GET ANY COUNTY FUNDING IS AS USUAL RENFRO VALLEY.THAT IS THE ONLY TOWN IN ROCKCASTLE COUNTY ACCORDING TO THE JUDGE.

They just dropped $100,000 in brodhead they was really afraid that it would catch on in livingston.and the judge and magisterates sure did not want to happen so forget the trail town in livngston.sorry.
