MA Cigarette Tax Hike Could Boost Illicit Sales
Governor Deval Patrick has proposed increasing the state's cigarette excise tax by $1 to $3.51 per pack in his Fiscal Year 2014 budget, but some policy analysts said the tax hike will only drive smokers across the border and to back channels for cheaper cigarettes.

A plan for growth?
Eliminate 45 personal tax exemptions.
Index gas tax to inflation.
Increase state income tax by 19%.
Increase cigarette tax by 39%.
Increase MBTA fares by 5% every two years.
Increase tolls by 5% every two years.
Increase RMV fees 10% every 5 years.
Give illegal aliens in-state tuition.
Here's something, decrease sales to to 4.5%.
