Pure democrat-socialist BS ! We have the highest corporate taxes in the world! Don't believe it? Then ask yourself why so many corporations have moved overseas. To pay higher taxes? Get real!
The top ten percent of earners pay 70% of the taxes. Stop drinking the democrat koolaid!

It's all relative. Wealthy people in America pay the lowest tax rates of any industrialized country in the world. The same goes for corporations in the US. In fact even within the US tax rates are at their lowest levels in 60 years.
Some may call it "rapacious", but most people in the world would find it to be a bargain.

The point I was trying to make - stand up and get that globe of cement out of your butt-hole - is that Americans do indeed have the values that "Responsibility" mentions. Those values are exhibited in their day-to-day lives. They are demonstrated in the variety and number of religious institutions that exist here in America.
To answer your question, about the values that where in place before the Republican or Democratic parties were in existence, I can refer you to Arthur Herman's excellent book, "How the Scots Invented the Modern World,", ISBN 978-0-609-80999-0.
Being of Scottish descent I did enjoy that book. While it was quite interesting you must admit that even the title borrows on the Scottish tradition of boasting and exaggerating about everything.

We may remember the old SNL skits where they proclaimed "If it's not Scottish, it's crap". Classic.

That is true but of course nobody pays the full tax rate. Just like individuals corporations receive many tax breaks so do corporations. While the corporate tax rate is 35% the average company pays an effective tax rate of less than 20%. Roughly 40% of corporation pay no taxes and actually report negative taxes.

Few companies move overseas. They may move their factories to exploit third world labors costs and the lack of any environmental protections, but they are still based in the US. Do you really think a CEO is going to live in Indonesia and give up everything he has here?

Companies take advantage of tax loopholes for pure greed. That's all. Do you really think Chiquita Bananas tried to move to Ireland because the Irish have such good bananas? They just wanted to find a way to avoid paying any US taxes while still being able to use tax payer funded US ports and highways to deliver their products to virtually every food market in the country.

I have three daughters, all of whom have at least a 4 year degree, one is a lawyer. I have worked at slightly over the minimum wage for much of my life. I was a welder-machinist- toolmaker-modelmaker. in addition to working as a hardrock miner. Later I got into property management and owned a few houses and land. The secret? Simple! If you make five dollars a week, you live on four and bank one. Then you invest all those ones! You do not wait for the govt to make a law ordering your boss to pay you more! Because if your boss has to pay you more , he's gonna charge more and eventually those increased charges come back to you and you're no better off than you were before.

Times have changed a lot I'm sure since your 4 kids etc. We are talking billion dollar companies I'm Sure this would be a drop in the bucket for them if they paid their workers a few dollars more. The top 10% can stretch their resources out a little more then the middle and lower class citizens.

The "American dream" is a little harder to reach now a days then back in our grandparents and even our parents days. I have a few college graduates in my family with PhD's who are having a difficult time finding a job, There's been a study that's the younger generation today have it harder compared to their parents. Remember different strokes for different folks. Lets not forget people got rich on the backs of slaves.

First off, I don't consider corporations to be an enemy, as you do! I do consider the govt to be the enemy. The govt is full of pandering thieves who will spin any story to get their hands in your wallet. When you realize this, you are making large steps forward. The people in the govt will take your money and freedoms to the degree that you'll be left with a bicycle and living in a tarpaper shack and blaming you for not doing better. Take a look at at the former Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) if you doubt this.
You spent yours and now you want mine!

Al Sarpton and Jessie Jackson are both racists and like to stir up trouble when there is none. They get out and make black people act and do things that they would not do if they were not there to agitate. They should both be in prison.

... what that has to do with this thread I have absolutely no idea. Its funny how you call Sharpton and Jackson racist and here you are making a very racist comment as if all black people are easily agitated because they aren't intelligent enough to think for themselves. All you guys want to do is attack Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson instead of addressing the problem that caused the uprising, that cause unrest. Al Sharpton did not shoot an unarmed teenager 6 times... and Al Sharpton isn't on the border looking to kill immigrants.
I just really enjoy the fact of seeing you idiots suffer because Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson has more influence in this country then you or your right-wing bigots ever will.

Our southern border is wide open where anyone can come into rhe USA. DHS sends out a memo today warning LE through a BOLO to look out for suspicious activities and or people, referring to ISIS.

Can they not put 2+2 together?

By the way, what kind of HELL was Canada required TO PAY after they let all of the 9/11 hijackers into the country?

You are sure this would be a drop in the bucket them if they paid just a little more! I am not so sure. In fact I would support the "strengthening the dollar" effect that a slight lowering of wages ! When I started off in life, the minimum wage was around $2.00 PH, Gasoline cost $.30 a Gal. gold was at $ 35.00 an ounce, silver was at $1.00 . I bought my first home at $ 14,000, RE taxes were $300.+ Interest was 6% heating oil was $.15.9 a gal. I was earning a little over $ 3.00 PH. With overtime and my spouse's salary, we made a little over $ 10K a year. I always scratched for "side money" which I valued at 2-1 the money I earned working. This might take the form of odd jobs or buying stocks that paid dividends. Because of my independent streak and my personal jealousy of the bosses, I frequently changed jobs. And I frequently had no Health Ins for a month or so. I noticed with some alarm, the inflation that was eroding the purchasing power of savings accounts. Democrat socialists were always coming up with ways to spread the wealth, My wealth and people in my position's wealth through higher taxes and the printing of more paper money. It was a "Keep em' down" game , and it still goes on! No one profits, except them! And it should end!
You spent yours and now you want mine!
