It's already crazy enough. People all over the road texting while driving 70 mph. I see it everyday. No signals due to an electronic device in hand. They will issure tickets for just a bit over the limit. They said so already.

Best idea in a long time. There won't be any problems as long as people quit acting like stop signs don't exist. Run them and you are gonna die if the person hitting you is doing 55 or 65. Might as well make it 75 that way you don't have a chance to just limp away.

The diff in time from Cadiz to Hopkinsville will be approx 2 minutes. There is a HUGE diff in getting hit at 55/65 mph. I drive on it daily.(have for 30 years). 4 lane was a huge improvment. An increase in the speed limit will not be. It will remain 55 near I-24. That is good because people pull out in front of you everytime you go through that intersection.

There have been a lot of people killed on this road with a 55 speed limit just wait and see how many more will be killed at 65 just as well make it a 100MPH
The state can't get anything done now days everything is right or left and this passed makes you think who is running this state.

Haha, I think this is a great idea. Common sense, really. Why? The speed limit on that road has been 65 for a long time, the only people that didn't recognize that was the government.

I expect accidents to stay about the same, maybe even go down.

I see it everyday. You gotta be kidding. Some people cannot drive. I can spot someone on a cell phone from 1/2 mile behind cause they are all over the road. 65 mph will only make it worse. It would be ok if the text while driving laws could be enforced. Last week I counted a car 6 times go completely off the road into the E-lane and back across the center line. I passed to keep from being involved. Brashears sucks.

You're crossing laws here. People shouldn't text and drive at any speed. Purdue university has done a study (which you can view here: http://www.thenewspaper.com/rlc/docs/2008/in-... ) that found no correlation between increased speeds and traffic incidents.

The National Motorists Association has commented, the Department of Transportation has too. The general consensus is that when speed limits are set low, it lulls drivers into a tepid, hypnotic state of driving that is absolutely dangerous. Increasing the speed limits keeps drivers more engaged and responsive in the driving.

Also, many people drive at a speed they are comfortable. All speed limit increases will do is let more people be legal when they drive, lol. Turns out, just because the speed limit increases on big highways like that, doesn't mean people will drive x faster because of it. It's safer, it was necessary.

Hoptown to Cadiz is approx 2 minutes faster. You will be sitting at the stop light when I zip through. According to the Trigg cops you will get a ticket for 70. Then you will loose your 2 minutes plus some. And your paycheck will short a hundred or so.

Where are you pulling this information? Oh yeah, out of your a55, based on your skewed, biased and scared view.

It's about 20.5 miles from Hopkinsville to Cadiz from any given median, almost all of that is on US 68. I hate that it's still called 68/80 because KY80 doesn't really exist anymore. Irrelevant but anyway....

Going 55 mph on avg, you're going to get from Hoptown to Cadiz in about 23 minutes.

On the same stretch doing 65, you're going to there in under 19 minutes. That's more than double the time you pulled out of your anus. And please, I'd love to know which cops said they were going to pull people over for going 5 over.

Modern speedometers are usually purposefully error prone for less speed. When people read they're going 70 mph, their actually going 68-69. What cop without a better reason pulls someone over for going 3 over? None of 'em.

And while 4 minutes may not seem like a lot, do you know how many people travel on US-68? 4 minutes per, every day, every car? That's going to add up to a lot of extra productivity. Not to mention, as I previously did and you failed to respond, that's it's actually statistically SAFER. Combine all that with the fact that the average traffic speed on that road (from all the times I've driven it), has always seemed to be well over 55 and you've got the recipe for a good decision. It needed to be made.

There isn't 20 miles of 65 mph zone between H'ville and Cadiz. The only diff in speeds would be the new 65mph zones. It's 65 mph for approx 2 miles untill the I-24. Then another 10-12 miles MAYBE between Broadbent's curve (2 miles from Gracey) and the H'ville bypass. I think I said approx 2 minutes. You aren't subtracting the 55 mph zones. What's comming out of my anus seems to be more on par than what comes out of your brain. Plus, I want to see what you've got on faster being safer. If that's so there wouldn't be any limits.

Dude, my information is off mapquest, I don't think your memory is more accurate. Sorry. We're also not factoring in the hundred of different variables, but truthfully, all of that is irrelevant. Even if it were two minutes, added up throughout the day, that's a lot of time saved. A lot of extra money made. And if you want to see the first link I posted, look up a few posts. If you want more, just say so.
