A 100,000 firework show would be more useful. I'm waiting for a disc golf course put the money toward that.

to:(Wishful) Not exactly sure where you are coming from on this, but you are clearly misinformed and obviously against a place where kids who have nothing to do in a city that is brand new to have a place to hang out and express their individuality at a skatepark. It's freedom, its creativity, its an escape, and in a world where the need to do so has fallen to the wayside, I commend Spring Hill for promoting and bringing a new place to skate to the city. Here's to all the kids who have spent countless days wishing for it, and to all the people involved in putting it together. Cheers!
Sounds like your caught up in the issues rather than the solutions.
It's not so bad once you step outside and take part in this life we all are trying to enjoy.

This city needs something else that creates a liability to the city. Really, we need to spend 100k on a park that will turn into a haven to hangout and require police, as well as emergency responders. Take alook at Franklins skate park and the number of accidents that happen on a daily basis.
Spring hill needs to worry about todays issues, not something that was proposed years ago..

I have to say that it's very concerning when adults begin calling our children names ....."dumb" ..."idiots". Please take a moment and let that sink in! I have a thirteen year old who skates and skates because I influenced them. I skated growing up and still enjoy getting on my board....with my kids. Would you rather I throw a football around with them? Or, a baseball maybe? Are you requesting that our children get inline and follow what the majority does? Everyone gets hurt at times! Lots of people get into trouble! Is it not true statistically that driving a vehicle to and from work is more dangerous? Have you not listened to the NFL's long hidden history of brain injuries? I'd rather my child break an arm!!! We all pay taxes...kids get hurt and our emergency teams enjoy helping and taking care of them. I'm sure I've missed a few items so lastly, we demand our children make something of themselves but won't allow them to be creative! Drugs come into play when kids can't "escape". Meaning....if you force your child to do any sport they're not getting to express themselves on the field or at the skatepark. They're only doing it because "dad" wants them too. We are so attracted to the creative thinkers of today. Do you not want to give your child that chance? Or, would you rather them be so codependent and attention starved that drugs is their only escape? My kid also plays baseball and we are very thankful for the baseball fields and the skateparks!

Spring Hill's new Skate and BMX park looks very nice. I'm from a much larger city where there are several nice parks similar to this, and all are used on a regular basis. I've been involved with motocross and BMX bike riding for many years, and believe it to be one of the most physically demanding and mentally intensive sports anywhere. This activity promotes a healthy lifestyle (to even be able to do it properly)while sharpening reflexes and helping to develop the ability to make extremely fast judgment decisions. In short, I've never seen anything negative about it, and I've been involved with, and enjoyed, team sports of all sorts over the years. I believe Spring Hill will certainly benefit from having this nice asset. Keep it nice, keep it clean, ride, and enjoy it.

it wouldn't be the same talk if we were talking about putting in bascketball courts. you would be surprised who skateboards now. I work at gm pay taxes. im a normal guy who enjoys going to the skatepark. its good exercise and it did keep me from drinking at partys like all the other kids are doing. plus were talking about it being for kids leave them the hell alone. iv lived all over 100,000 is not bad for a skatepark calm down.

Rodney Mullen is the founding father of skateboarding and he started out in a barn. However not everyone was born with such gifts. Would you rather hit a skateboarder on public property or see them safe inside a controlled environment? Getting to the drug and crime portion, you are stereotying teenagers who like to do one thing and that is skate. I had a friend back in highschool who was on the football team. He got high like teens do and partied like teens do. He also got arrested for attempted murder. I'm not trying to bash the biggots. Just trying to create peace. I can see where they come from (this being the south) so I feel how they can get angry with this subject. Skateboarders are not to blame, however, because factually speaking a car is bigger than a 175 lbs 5' 10" person. Let us let both sides come to an understanding and see that this is for kids to have fun. Something to look forward to.
