Wow some people. go look at the big soccer, baseball, or football fields that are all over the place. Most of the time they are completely empty. I just moved here from Las Vegas and this town is boring. A skatepark would be a good thing for the town. There not just for drug addict teens who hang out there all day. they are family friendly. there is always people taking there small children to go and have fun. Why should we spend 100k on some things we already have? we already have recreation centers. RealSolution a skatepark would bring in many more people than a new tennis court or basketball court. Skateboarding and BMXing are becoming very popular sports, skateparks are becoming more traditional and are sprouting up in every town. A skatepark would do well for spring hill especially attracting people from columbia who cant go all the way to franklin for that crappy little skatepark and Brentwood for a legitimate skatepark. So stop criticizing a skatepark and think about the people who want one. Why do you just sit at home and look down upon it. If u dont want to go to it dont. Dont talk shit about it and try to stop them from building one.

Totally agree with a previous poster about the amount of money dropped on a skate park that would only serve a small group of people. BMXican, go see how many people participate in the Heritage baseball and softball leagues, Spring Hill Little League, the Spring Hill Rotary League, the Spring Hill Raiders and Coyotes football and all the soccer players playing for Maury County and Williamson counties YMCA to see why there is more of a need to invest money in these types of fields.

First, give me the addresses of the big soccer, baseball, football fields all over the place that are for THE PUBLIC... "IN" SPRING HILL.(Unless you're counting high schools or elementary schools which are not for "public" use)

Second, GO visit the Longview Rec Center, the only place I know where you can go for a basketball gym, work out center, etc...and see if you can fit your big toe in there. It's jam-packed ...I see people everyday just walk away from areas because there are more people wanting to use it than it can afford capacity to be used.

Third, go ahead and build a skatepark, I'm sure it will have nice reverb for the crickets chirping within its emptiness.

I'll stop criticizing the skate park..in fact..are there 10 more people in Spring Hill that want something as well? Oh wait...I wasn't criticizing a skate park to begin ... just stating the obvious. Look at the Spring Hill demographic ...take a poll..do some research ... whatever you need to do to realize that just because you like something the whole world isn't going to have a parade and build it for you.

My initial point is that skateboarding isn't that popular. Shocking to find that out ... and not wrong to observe the fact .. it just isn't. That doesn't mean anything ... I don't know why skateboarders take that personal. Dang.

Will the next rich person that dies and leaves money to the city, please leave it to improve our roads?
If not that, then a cat park. Equal treatment for all, dammit.
Dogs and blondes have all the fun.

HAHAHAHAHA you all should do your research before you criticise about me not. A message from the mayor said that they will be building a skatepark in spring Hill with the money. There is already land set aside.

Skate park should be private. That way, the liability is on the owner, not the city. Since the grant was for "parks and recreation", it would be better served to invest in a wider range of activities at a park in general. Picnic areas etc.
A skate park is a specialized place, not serving the general use of a traditional park.
I have no hate for skaters at all, I encourage someone to have this great opportunity to make money by running a privately owned facility. Come on developers, you know who you are. Use some of that lans slated to build homes on and run a skate facility. Leave the city out of it, and you will have a better place to skate.
I just think that the 100K could be put to better use other than a specialized park.

I hope with the money they also build a pickleball court! All of us who love pickleball have no where to play in this city darn it! If we get this court we can get all the kids to play so that way they will stop drinking and doing drugs and wont vandalize properties and leave scuff marks on the pavement in front of businesses.

Spring Hill needs somewhere for kids to skateboard. Something for kids to do period! There is NOTHING in Spring Hill. God forbid we build a skate park and try to keep kids out of trouble and away from drugs. I grew up skateboarding and it angers me how negative people are towards it. You never hear of professional skateboarders beating their wives, shooting up sterriods and generally being bad people like you do in baseball and football! Not everyone likes baseball and football! We have ball fields in Spring Hill... why not a place for skaters to play? You can get hurt playing baseball too... should we close the fields? Get a life people!
I agree my son skates, he has never used drugs or has never drank. This idea that this would become a hangout for that type stuff is simply STUPID. Like this young person said how many ball players have addictions and how many paralyed children are there in football (I am a former football player, still love the game after retirement)kids have also died from hits to the head by baseballs. So just because these kids don't look like the jocks in your kids school or listen to the same boring music doesn't not mean they are bad kids. They deserve a playing feild so to speak as much as the ball players.....

My parents thought I never used drugs or drank when I was in high school too. You may not want to be so sure. Kids can be crafty with hiding that stuff. They'll slip but don't let your guard down.

Who cares? the money was raised for the skatepark. Would you rather us go skate in the streets and get charged for vandalism? ya. that happens. or hit by cars? cops called continuously? just get over it and let us have a place to do what we love to do.

more popular than you would think. and you can go to casets castle/evans park. there is a field there that people go to all the time. its never locked and open for pretty much everyone who wants to take the time to organize a game. Building a skatepark is better than us having to go street skating where we could be arrested for vandalism.

Dude, seriously?

Imagine if this happened to one of your children or young family members?

Oh wait, you are obviously sterile from too much meth and paint thinner. That is best for society anyway.

This city needs something else that creates a liability to the city. Really, we need to spend 100k on a park that will turn into a haven to hangout and require police, as well as emergency responders. Take alook at Franklins skate park and the number of accidents that happen on a daily basis.
Spring hill needs to worry about todays issues, not something that was proposed years ago..
. Your dumb and its a great idea! You are just old and do not remember how to have fun and be a kid skateboarding is a great healthy activity for our youth and you are purposturous

Spring Hill has had sufficent time to proceed with this project. Contact your city leaders and demand some action to finish the skate park.
