Wirral pet shop owner denies selling monkeys illegally after police raid store

POLICE raided a Merseyside pet shop after reports of monkeys being sold. Officers searched Wirral Bird World on Hoylake Road, Moreton, yesterday alongside licensing officers from Wirral Council and DEFRA and experts from Monkey World, a primate rescue centre in Dorset.

this shop should be shut down, he sell animals with wrong advice and in unsuitable enclosures, he said the monkey was 1000 when i was in the shop last week

That shop is the pits, I've seen parrots kept in buckets in there ! When I asked about the monkey I was told it was sold but was 1000. I don't think the guy in there was the owner. They sell turtles in plastic bowls and keep reptiles in tiny plastic tubs ! About time something was done !!!

i agree this man should be jailed for this the poor little thing reported on the echo web site as being only 7 weeks old ....capital punishment would be too good for this horror......

Went there yesterday and there wasn't a single living thing in the shop - no birds, empty repile cages and fish tanks with no fish. Has he had his licence taken away?
