My husband was diagnosed with the same condition 7yrs ago.
Have they talked to him about getting a cpap machine?
There is a website cpap australia you might find useful.
One of these machines makes a huge difference.
I found that his use of it makes him less grumpy and easier to live with.
He also doesn't drop off to sleep all the time.
Having sleep apnea puts a strain on the heart, becoz it has to work 24/7, without resting like ours does when we sleep.
The cpap blows a continual flow of air to the lungs, stopping the long pauses, that suffers have while sleeping.
They there by have better sleeps, and so do you because there is no snoring, and the heart also benefits by been able to rest.
Checkout the website and good luck

Just want to say that Chrissy's post is good advice. My husbands father suffered sleep apnea for years, waking up at 3am every morning. He has a lot of heart problems now and has suffered several heart attacks, has had splints inserted and they still can't quite figure out what exactly is wrong with his heart.it's clearly combined with the apnea. the cpap machine that Chrissy mentioned sounds like it can go a long way toward helping with the apnea and possibly avoid heart problems down the track.good luck.
