New parking charges from Monday
PURSES will be bulging under the strain as commuters raid their piggy-banks to pay Salisbury's new parking charges.Full Story

How do you propose a vote of no confidence in the council? My wife owns a small shop that has halved its turnover since the new charges came in. This has moved from a viable business with four employees to something which will have to move out of the town or close. It really doesn't take much intelligence to work out that the council are going to lose out on rateable businesses and on parking charges if no one is willing to pay the absurd present levels. I for one used to pop into Salisbury to do things that I will not bother to do at all or go to one of the smaller towns. There is also a question about the morality if not the legality of a 120% hike in the basic charge. Maybe someone would like to start a test case for businesses blighted by this latest inane action.
I suppose that the people who are responsible for this don't actually shop in Salisbury or they have a convenient Council parking space that they use.
Children playing simulated computer games can see that this doesn't work. Why can't they?
I'd happily recommend some free games that they can play to learn about how price hikes ruin profitablility.
