It was year’s back two high school friends Mulu and Befitu, agreed to visit, Harar, East of Ethiopia; which Befitu nick named it Rainbow Town. Both obtained permission from their parents with their blessing.
“On the train watch out of your belongings, also do not talk to strangers;” Strong warning from Mule’s mother. Both said, Eshi,(Oki). They took the only train existed in the country which was established during Menelik II, a King who was ruled Ethiopia in 1889 – 1913,(by some he was known as a kind person called him Imya Menelik (Mother Menelik). Anyway, at 6 p.m. a train was ready to roar through the desert of Awash; the rusty bars of the train changed to furnace. The trees were dried from the semi-desert; the soil was long before washed. No technology to save it.
“We both were half asleep and half awake.” Mulu expressed.“Hoja man offered us some hoja (local tea) that does well for our sleep.” Beiftu. After a long and tiresome journey reached Dire Dawa. Very warm in climate and also the people are warm and very friendly. From Dire Dawa they proceeded to Harar with Bara rye (runner) express bus.
Since this was their first freedom they enjoyed every single event as an adventure and experience, and they took it with curiosity and excitement. Now they were in Rainbow Town on mid-day with Bara rye (express bus). Mulu could not stop laughing from the word Bara rye (express bus).“You are used to your father’s Opal Car that is why you are giggling.” Befitu bluffed. Mulu a daughter of well-to-do was very much spoiled in her thinking as well as in her reactions. Mulu barely understood the life style of common people; she was far from gloomy life style. However, as a close friend to Befitu she was sincere and honest. Both were excited to visit this historical old town surrounded by seven gates; took cart = horse-drawn and sung the following: Bale gariw, Bale gariw, Tolo Tolo Nedwe! Literary: The cart man, the cart man drive it quick, drive it quick!
The Seven gates were the following:(the meaning of each gate leave it to researchers.}
1. Berbera Bere
2. Buda Bere
3. Duke Bere
4. Felena Bere
5. Sanga Bere
6. Shawa Bere and
7. Yerer Bere
Unfortunately both didn’t spoke languages spoken by majority local people Adera and Kotu; that was to their disadvantage, because speaking the language would help communicate better, save time and avoid third party involvement. They both agreed how vital and important to be bi-lingual and promised to themselves to learn more languages in the future. They concluded their journey back with the following expression:
Beyond the cliff pass
The rusty burning train
Runs through the desert
Half asleep, half awake
Counting the stars
With bright moonlight
This was my first freedom
Traveling with a friend,
Born in the same town
Never meet before
We both went downtown
To see the rainbow
Thinking the fruit that grew
None except a flag
That was the empire of hyena
We did not go beyond the wall
Our wish was for a safe return
Where we feel better in appearance

To Respectable People of United Kingdom,
The Philippines Coast Guard murdered an innocent Taiwan fisherman on May 9 within Taiwan's EEZ and thus has grossly violated Taiwan's UNCLOS rights.
Not only the Philippines officials do not apologize, they have launched a global badmouthing disinformation campaign (using Filipino and American media) against Taiwan people in order to cover up their own crime.
You will be the judge! Please give us your moral support!
Taiwan is a small place and not as large as the Philippines. Although we are pro-American, USA obviously pretends to be neutral and in fact takes side with the Philippines.
What is justice?
Taiwan data recorder rejects PH claim
by Agence France-Presse
TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwan on Tuesday, May 21, released a satellite record of the route of a fishing boat fired on by Philippine coastguards, flatly rejecting Manila's allegations that the boat intruded into Philippine waters.
The killing of crew member Hung Shih-cheng, 65, sparked outrage in Taiwan, which has announced a series of economic sanctions against the Philippines.
Taiwan's Fisheries Agency said the voyage data recorder from the fishing boat showed it was not in Philippine waters when it came under fire on May 9.
"The satellite records indicated that the Guang Ta Hsin 28 had been fishing within Taiwan's exclusive economic zone throughout," the agency's deputy chief Tsay Tzu-yaw told AFP.
The satellite record showed that the ship was positioned at 122 degrees and 55 minutes east and 19 degrees and 59 minutes north when it was attacked at 10:12 am. The economic zones claimed by each country overlap.
"Since the Philippine authorities repeatedly alleged that the fishing boat had intruded into their waters, then why not make public the video records they claim they have taken from the coastguard boat?" Tsay said.
The Philippines said Monday it would make "coordinated efforts" with Taiwan to look into the incident.
Its coast guards claimed that the fishing boat intruded into Philippine waters and tried to ram their vessel, forcing them to to open fire.
Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou has termed the killing "cold-blooded murder" based on an initial inquiry by Taiwan, which showed that the boat had more than 50 bullet holes and showed no signs of ramming.
The incident has sharply raised tensions between Taipei and Manila, sparking concern from Washington.
Philippine Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said Monday a National Bureau of Investigation team would fly to Taiwan to examine the fishing boat and interview survivors.
De Lima said the Taiwanese investigators would be given access to their evidence, including statements from the coastguard.
Philippine President Benigno Aquino has personally apologised for the incident but Taiwan has rejected his apology and announced sanctions.
These include a ban on the hiring of new Philippine workers, recalling its envoy and staging a naval drill in waters off the northern Philippines.
Taipei has repeatedly pressed Manila to issue a formal government apology, to compensate the fisherman's family and to apprehend the killer.
Philippine officials say the issue of a formal apology is complicated by the fact that Manila officially recognises Beijing over Taipei.- Rappler.com "
