There's the proof!

Now we have in society homosexuals people FORCING people to give allowance to their immoral behaviors.

America MUST preserve people's right to uphold their own beliefs. If you lead an organization, run a restaurant, or in this case operate a hotel, we must allow people to live according to their own religion and beliefs.

(This borders on the government ESTABLISHING a religion where they tell people what are acceptable beliefs.)

Agreed that they cannot try and prevent these two homosexuals from sharing a room at another place, but certainly they have the right and a responsibility to uphold righteousness in their own business.

Get the facts straight BEFORE you start whining incoherently. Then we can ship you off to the nuthouse where you belong.

Religion these days serves only to prop up prejudices, justify discrimination, and hold back the progress of humanity. It's way past time we grew out of it.

We should be able to distinguish right from wrong without the 'guidance' of superstitious crap written in the ancient Middle East. We don't need an imaginary parent watching over us, especially not a childish, jealous character like Jehova or bloody Allah.

It's time for the human race to fcuking well grow up, move forward, and leave that puerile rubbish where it belongs, in the distant past.

If there is a God, then he agrees with me. ;)

Doug, others have pointed out this happened in the UK. Regardless of the country of origin, your religion is NOT a method, means, or reason to oppress or control others. If you operate an establishment for the benfit of yourself and the public (i.e., a restaurant, bed and breakfast, hotel, etc.), you have to meet certain standards of conduct. This may include employment laws, taxation, cleanliness, and accommodation without regard for a variety of factors (including race, religion, etc.).

You have the same "sky is falling" shrill shriek as happened when "race and ethnicity" was added to the categories of legally-protected from discrimination. Look how wrong those people were, just as you are wrong now.

Discriminatory special protections for homosexuals are always used to trample on the rights of others.

Well, by their own admission, they were also discriminating against unmarried straight couples, according to their religious beliefs.

The question here is: Do we allow religious discrimination or don't we?

I say bollocks to it.

Who trampled on YOUR right to visit your own children, hmmm?????

Maybe if you hadn't molested them, the Court would allow you to see them.

So don't come on here whining about homosexuals when YOU are an incestuous pedophile.

Firstly, this took place in the U.K. and not the U.S. Did you even bother to read the story ?

Secondly, supposing a couple came in and each was wearing a Star Of David indicating that they were Jewish. Since Jews DENY that Jesus of Nazareth IS the Christ (and as a Christian, I believe that he IS the Christ), would you say the owners have a right to refuse to rent them a room, BECAUSE OF their steadfast denial of Christ ? Wouldn't it be understandable that the owners would be offended by their steadfast refusal to recognize the TRUTH ?

Yeah? Well, I'm going to open a B&B that only says "NO CHRISTIANS ALLOWED".

How's that sit with you, Cletus? Hey, it's my RIGHT, isn't it, according to YOU? I can hear the howls of protest already about how it is NOT my right to discriminate.

I hope you also include the Jewish/Judaism god in your summary, to prove you are a genuine atheist, and not a Jew hellbent on bringing down all other religions, to create many more consumers, to profit from, but will keep your own religion as sacred..........

David Moore, do we have to call your court-mandated therapist again to provide proof you're violating the terms of your community release? Um... didn't you lose your internet "privliges" for several months last year when you were found in violation - and you were told to stop, or face prision time for your convicted criminal record?

Focus on your own mental health needs and your criminal record. Go back to your regular therapy. Stop harassing others.

Of course, the article may not have quoted the judge in full, but it is interesting for what he did not say. He emphasized the rights of minorities and the fact that these will go against some traditional beliefs. What he did not say was that when one runs a business, one is not entitled to impose any beliefs, traditional or otherwise. I guess this is a difference between British and North American legal thought.

Also, given that the plaintiffs spent far more in legal costs than they recovered from the token settlement, I don't understand whey they weren't awarded the legal costs. Brighton John - perhaps you'd have some knowledge on this and how the system works in the UK, if you are reading this.
