Archaeologists unearth mini-Stonehenge in Greater Manchester

“I don't know why that site was chosen originally but it has fantastic views of Rochdale and was fairly close to where people lived. It's a great site and we really need to get it protected and preserved”

Archaeologists have unearthed a mini-Stonehenge in Greater Manchester, England, which dates back to about 5,000 years. via AndhraNews

learn how to spell, you idiot. There are other structures, in Britain and other countries. Stonehenge is just one, probably the biggest. I expect your next step will be to tell us that blacks built them.

Mr Giblets, a fine advertisement for the Poms you are.

As a suggestion, calm down a little, and if you see a post you don't like, ignore it.

Tell you what, start with this one ...

Stonehenge is simply one of the biggest, & certainly the most well known of all the Megalithic & Neolithic sites in Western Europe.

The Rochdale one is on the hills above my house, i can see it's general location from my bedroom window. When they've done excavating it i'll have a mtb ride up over there to take some photos :)

This is a ridiculous debate, there is not single henge structure anywhere else that has lintel- topped stones. Nor do people here realise that the word ‘henge’ came from Stonehenge as long ago as the 12th century, nowadays the word refers to an earthwork, not a stone structure. People should just try reading books instead of quoting other peoples half baked opinions: Even reading Wiki is a start:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonehenge or try:
