I had an inkling you are only a youngster from your stint in NI Lol.
When I made the reference to occupying army, I meant of course the view as was held by some over there.
Do you see my point between those trained to meet abuse and those who are not ?
I remember the NI training but kind remember the verbal abuse part personally, lol, just when we was there we took it on the chin so to speak, mind you when you get an irate paddy it's hard understanding what he/ she 's saying anyway, lol

<quoted text>I'm not making excuses for thugs..So what's the difference if some idiot was being offensive by just calling them a Pakistani whatever,do they change the name of what they are?I made a point in an earlier post that I was called a Brit this and that in Northern Ireland and my black mate got it even worse, just laughed at the idiots,it made no difference if they called us Brits or British, some people get over sensitive..
do you really not get it or are you being intentionally obtuse?

The word paki is offensive. Even moreso when it is used against non Pakistanis. What reason would you have to call a non pakistani a paki? and what do you generally call non Pakistani asians? I'm curious to know

If you had read my posts I actually said that if you were Indian for arguement sake you probably would be upset being called a Paki.
I don't call Pakistanis anything I don't feel I need to,I was just saying that Paki is a shortened down word like Brit,it makes no difference if you were going to be abusive whether your say for example your a Paki B or Pakistani B..
If say someone called you a Brit B would you find that offensive?it makes no difference whether Brit or British, you either find it offensive or not,I simply choose not to take a short version of a word to heart and get over sensitive in it's simplicity..
Now we are all different and probably you shrug things of that say your wife or friend would find offensive or whatever's,doesn't mean your wrong or need to be labeled something just because you don't feel the same way.
Now you see how easy that was,you disagree with me but you didn't need to start being abusive but asked questions..

I know what you're saying and technically you are correct. But the word paki has historically racist connotations dating back to the 70s and 80s..

For examples, older Asians who lived in the UK during those times will find the image of a white guy in a Green or Black bonber jacket, shaved head, jeans turned up and doctor marten boots very worrying. That was the uniform of the National Front and will still cause fear for the older gerenation of British and foreign born minorties.

If you walked through a North London ghetto at night and were surrounded by a group of black and brown kids who called you a Brit bastard while mugging you on a weekly basis.

Eventually you will find the term racist when used against you by minorites.

Thats all i'm saying

Believe me I do understand where your coming from, you also have to remember that we all and I mean all,us,Asians,Blacks have used words to describe someone that they might feel aggrieved about from Frogs,Yanks,Krauts,Chinks,Rusk ies,Honkeys,Brits,Limeys and so on,and I bet most on here even the most left have used the word Chinky when referring to a meal..
So I take it as it is and don't get over sensitive over what I feel it is really,a shortened word, abuse whether you use the short or long long name is still abuse..
The problem I find is the left call everything racist because they don't have the answer to question they can't answer, once upon a time you questioned immigration you were classed racist by the left now they have turned it round and know they have F up..
We are all different and look and things different ways..

successive govts have assumed the promoting multiculturalsim will make Racism dissappear. And I think it did for a while in the 90s.

But labour's policies of opening the floodgates to asylum seekers, EU members and failed bids to curb illegal immigration have actually made Racism worse now than it has been for years.

In economic boom times people don't notice immigrants as much as they do during periods of economic upheaval.

But at least the British public are now aiming anger at the right place... the Govt.

Of course it is. Should I call an Indian a 'Paki' I would deserve the slapping I would no doubt get back.

There is no love lost between the Paki's and the Indians.

India vs Pakistan cricket matches are very tense. If a cricket riot were to ever take place, it would be at a match between the two

That I totally agree with.
Remember labour opened the floodgates to get a reaction from the Tories so they could call them racist that came out..
I am a political I hate them all but most of my vent spleen is towards the joke hypocrite Labour Party..
Supersonic made a point about Indians and Pakistanis there is no love lost there,as my Indian mate makes that obvious..
