Hi there again, its Margaret mcguckin, i forgot to leave my e-mail address, bliss61@hotmail.co.uk Just to say also about the abuse and wicked behaviour of the nuns there, namely st frances, sr kevin, st thomas. I still find it very hard to form any relationships of any kind, to this day, because of being made to feel constantly, dirty, ashamed, guilty, rejected, unwanted, evil?, no good, etc, etc. i would luv to hear from other ex covent girls?? I still live in Belfast. x

Hi Margaret I knew your sister Bernadette but I don't recall you. Most likely you were still in the nursery. I would have been 9 in 1959.

I spent my childhood on my knees scrubbing floors. We were never out of church. Also as i use to wet my bed, every morning i would get a good hiding for it even though i tryed desperately not to do it. Yes jeys fluid was the answer to everything, i remember washing my hair with it and also it was put in the bath water. does anybody remember me. looking for a way to claim
Hi, Stella, my name is Margaret mcGuckin, i can remember your name, i asked my sister, Bernadette about you and she remembers you, I will email you shortly. I recall going through all the abuses you described, we must speak out!!!

The Venue would be in Belfast as that is where I was, I really dont think it will go ahead as there needs to be at least 30 ( The more the better ) people willing to take part and for me to do it Its needs to be done A S A P due to me having surgery very soon.
However, there is nothing to stop those who were in N House in England, Scotland etc doing one in their owm area. I will support those who wish to arrange a demo, but after my surgery I wont be able to do anything for a long time. I feel the time is right for all who suffered Institutional abuse to speak out and not suffer in silence anymore. We need to speak out and be heard. All I can do for now is try and put Victims Of Institutional Abuse in the right direction, ie, contacting your local M P.s asking for their support

I remember Phyllis and Violet Diamond from NH KIlmarnock and I also remember Betty Reynolds. Does anyone remember Sister Eugenius? She was the most cruel person I ever met. Does anyone remember Sister Hildegarde? What a nasty piece of work she was.
I was in Nazareth Hse Ditton Nr Widnes from 18th June 1946 onwards. I remember Sr. Hildegarde only too well ( We called her the Witch). I made enquiries and found that she eventually went to South Africa where she died. It's too far for me to go with a wooden stake and a mallet! John R

Hi Deirdre, just wanted to thank you publicly, for what you are doing in order to highlight all of this abuse that did take place. Keep it up, you are doing a great service to all those who are afraid to speak out and to those who have just allowed themselves to accept abuse as normal behaviour, i now know, it is not right to have been treated in such a way. It is now opened up, the lid is off and can be no longer hidden away, as taboo. Margaret& bernadette. xx
