Going a little off topic, I thought this was a valid point:
Some Muslims are outraged about a discarded and damaged Quran? Not about a teenage suicide bomber? Unwise to shoot a Quran under the circumstances. Maybe he was just venting and thought,“well who will ever know?” The point that “who else would riot” has been made repeatedly. It is worse than nationalist fanaticism. There are not usually riots when a flag is burnt.

These suicide attacks are by extremists of course, but often apparently carried out with religious conviction. The unwitting are sometimes used by the fanatical. The fanaticism is fuelled by ignorance more than religion, but then what is religion? It has the danger inherent in such superstitions.
As a very moderate Imam Ajmal Masroor says,“Well, this is nothing unusual for people to feel so much attached to one another because they feel the unity comes because of the faith. In fact Islamic teaching is contrary to that. What Islam says is you must stand together for that which is good and you may not and should not cooperate with one another in that which is bad. If you see someone doing bad you must take action and one of the most productive way of taking action is to report them to the appropriate authorities. This is Islamic teaching.”

Another helpful answer would be to end all religious teaching in schools, unless it is about all religions and balanced equally with Humanism and logic. It is the blind conviction of Muslims in particular that is of concern and their detachment and sometimes contempt for non-Islamic societies, including the society around them.
