So, the honorable playwright smoked over 3 packs a day, drank heavily, and died of prostate cancer. What a marvelous contribution he made to the world in the meantime. What does his death from prostate cancer have to do with smoking BTW?

"Gray, who once admitted smoking 65 cigarettes a day, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2002.

"I've always been terrified of the consequences of smoking. Now I'm a year older and more terrified than ever," he told the Guardian newspaper last year."

"Smoking influences progression and prognosis of prostate cancer through a process called aberrant hypermethylation of CpG (cytosine-phosphorothiolated guanine) sequences on related genes, a new study indicates.

Previous studies have shown a positive association between current smoking and prostate carcinoma, as well as between aberrant CpG methylation profiles of certain gene promoters and progression of prostate cancer. But the mechanism involved in these associations had not been elucidated."

If you have ever set with a prostate cancer patient as I have, the words you will hear from the prostate cancer surgeon is that either your father or his brothers have had prostate cancer. Genetics

Of COURSE it causes prostate cancer as well as grey hair and brittle nails. The fact that all the people I know with prostate cancer: two people only were lifelong non-smokers with a history of the disease are of no value to scientists. It's always and only about smoking...no matter what. How about that anti smoking lawyer who died of cancer at 78 the other day? How did HE get cancer?

This man was an artist, a creator, and all some "anti" can do is come here and cite some prostate study. He achieved more than you would in 500 years, get over it. He didn't succeed at something to spite you. Go off and create a life for yourself like he did. So far, you have achieved the ability to cut and paste things you don't even really understand except for the first lines of the studies you cite. Bravo!

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Leo

It's hard to pin down a certain person today because they're being so vague and dithery. Ask them a question and they'll vacillate or be unable to give you a straight answer. You might suspect them of deceitful goings on but it's far more likely that they're simply in a world of their own and can't keep their mind on anything for long. Don't worry, they'll soon be back on planet earth.
