Wain originals now adorn the walls of Cave's office in Brighton, England, and were included in the Victorian Arts Centre's Nick Cave exhibition in 2007-08. Cave's collection extends from Wain's ...

Wain was very talented and had a unique way of illustrating cats. It is great what he did for the welfare of stray animals. It is too bad he died impoverished, yet, hopefully he was happy.

I can remember seeing his greeting cards in a collection my Auntie held, I do not know where those cards are now, but, I hope those who have them realize the treasure they have in art history.

Just had a quick look thru Google for those cats and hit on this http://kotaku.com/205123/schizophrenia-in-sec... which has some worthy comments at the bottom. The cat images have certainly been thru a synaptic whirlpool. Wonder if they had mobile transmitter masts in those days :)

It is unfortunate that Wain suffered with mental illness in his later life. Eventhough he did, he produced work that was quality and had charactor. There mobile transmitter masts were two tin cans and a string.:)

Nice that he was able to spend his last years painting away from the world in a room of his own, I think he may well have been content... I hope so...

Ruben I do not know if schizophrenia could be a good thing when you are old and already set out to pasture. I guess it could be an escape from the harsh, cruel world, if your life is going that way. I would find it frightening if I could not distinguish between reality and fantasy. The mind has to cope though. Although, there is a difference from choosing the blue or red pill. Some people choose to stay in a fantasy world.
