It looks like that the Basingstoke iStore is to close in September as Apple are opening up their own store five doors down in unit 65 in Festival Place, previously occupied by The Pier. There are currently only 30 Apple retail stores across the country, and Basingstoke is set to be one of the biggest outside of London.(Reading is the most recent)
This will give the town a major shopping boost. Its arrival in town will be a big shot in the arm for Festival Place, and will come just weeks after a £6million revamp is due to be completed on The Malls shopping centre, also in the town centre.
It is expected that the arrival of the prestigious Apple store will attract shoppers from Basingstoke and beyond, and will also help to attract other retailers to Festival Place.
As well as selling all of Apple’s products, the stores will also give customers the chance to try out the latest gadgets, with specialist staff on hand to demonstrate products and answer customers’ questions.
Customers could expect to benefit from services such as a Genius Bar, where they can ask technical questions about Apple products, with one-to-one training sessions for new users.
