the marbles were removed when the TURKS ran Greece. Greece was just a province of the Ottoman Empire for many hundreds of years, so one day, we will give them back to the Turks.

the Greeks had not looked after the marbles anyway. If it wasn't for foreign archeologists, the Greeks would have let all their old buildings fall down by now.

They survived for 2500 years until the Turks used the Acropolis to "store" ammunition and vandalized the rest. Jim read some History and then we can check your underpants for skid marks as well.

Which was the excuse/reason why Elgin bought the Marbles from the Turks.
Most antiquities were sold by grave robbers and thieves anyways..
At least they are in safe-keeping in Western museums for now!
We don't want them going the same way as the Bamiyan statues did!

So this is why the British collected Maori heads from New Zealand and aboriginal heads from Australia? to keep them safe from the savages? Now the british have begun returning these "trophies" back to where they belong as they should.

no.....the heads were probably a novelty back then.
Good to see they're heading back home though.
Do you think Ken Bigleys head will be returned to the UK?

Why would anyone care about Ken Bigley? who was he anyway and why would you want his head?

Correction, Greece was under occupation from the Ottomans.

Look into Greeces history and you will see how many uprisings there were against the Ottomans.

So that means how did the Turks run Greece again? Occupation means hostile.
