People in Wootton Bassett, the town famous for honouring dead British soldiers returning from Afghanistan, reacted defiantly on Saturday to news that a controversial Islamic group is to march through its streets.

Islam4UK which calls itself a "platform" for extremist movement al-Muhajiroun plans to parade through the Wiltshire town in the coming weeks.

The group's website says the event is being held "not in memory of the occupying and merciless British military" but of the Muslims its says have been "murdered in the name of democracy and freedom" ... Read more

from telegraph.co.uk:

"Leader Anjem Choudary said the protest, involving 500 people, would be peaceful one, with "symbolic coffins" being carried to honour Muslim victims of the conflict. He said he also planned to write to the parents of dead UK soldiers with his version of 'the reality of what they died for'".

Don't these unsolicited letters constitute harrassnment, or at least an invasion of these parents' privacey?

perhaps they should protest against the 90 people killed in Pakistan , at a sports event, all moslems murdered by other moslems?

I am just wounder about the way some people think and see things. they see a pacefull march as an invasion to their privacy. How about the invasion of iraq by US and UK without even a permission of UN. any idea how many innocence young children, women and men had died there. Don't forget the sexual abuse, humiliation and asult in abogrib prison(Iraq).
If you can't protest against this barbarian invasion in Muslim countries at least let the others honour their killed one by your troops in Afghanistan. It is a pace full march and there is no reason that shouldn't be done.

England....we need to send you some rednecks.

No way could this chouder guy get away with that kind of crap here.

An American Indian passing through from Lame Deer, another is a Cowboy on his way to Billings for a livestock show and the third passenger is a fundamentalist Arab student, newly arrived at Montana State University from the Middle East ..
Their discussion drifts to their diverse cultures.

Soon, the two Westerners learn that the Arab is a devout, radical Muslim and the conversation falls into an uneasy lull.

The cowboy leans back in his chair, crosses his boots on a magazine table, tips his big sweat-stained hat forward over his face, and lights a cigarette. The wind outside is blowing tumbleweeds around, and the old windsock is flapping; but still no plane comes.

Finally, the American Indian clears his throat and softly he speaks,'At one time here... my people were many... but sadly, now we are few.'

The Muslim student raises an eyebrow and leans forward,
'Once my people were few,' he sneers,'and now we are many. Why do you suppose that is?'

The cowboy removes his cigarette from his mouth and from the darkness beneath his Stetson says in a smooth drawl ...

'I reckon that's 'cause we ain't played Cowboys and Muslims yet,
But I do believe it's a-comin'

Yeah, I know, not p.c. but funny

WHAT???

They can protest (at least they may in the US), but it should be against the govt, if they disagree with it's policies. NOT AGAINST THE PARENTS of soldiers and marines with this harassment and hate.

UM, btw....Do they allow protests against the government in Muslim countries????

No freedom to protest there, unless you're a Muslim...

Hey we KNOW there are incredible Brits who are ready and able to deal with these criminals, but the govt has tied their hands.

One of my dear friends who lives in Great Britain tells a great story, I don't do it justice so I'll abbreviate it. The day or two after Sept 11, Mike was in a pub playing pool when a few fellows at the next table were talking about it. These 'men' were basically cheering about the thousands of Americans murdered. My Mike goes over to one of them and hits him on the head with his pool cue.

He neglected to tell me exactly what ensued afterward, but the British men and women are not afraid of confrontation with those who they know are our enemies.

When was the last march led by Choudary peaceful????

Can tell you are not a TRUE BRITISH CITIZEN...

I gather you would be a person to stand up for Islam first and your true native country second.. and then maybe Britian after that.. for where you now reside.

Choudary does not stand for peace.. he stands for changing the way the UK is.... for how it has been for hundreds and hundreds of years...

The only way that Islam seems to flourish in the UK is because of the immigrants that it has allowed (who are more than many of welfare payments).

The UK is a Christian country... The Church of England being the main one... and the Head of that Church is the Queen.

If you dont like the UK and for what it stands for ... leave.!!!!!!

Muslims do not fit in with modern Western societies. They should be rounded up and deported back to their home countries, where they can enjoy their stone-age cultures. I'll supply the ham sandwiches for the trip.

Let them march, if any cause trouble and are asylum seekers or claim uk benefits DEPORT them without delay. How long are we going to pay to hear these ungrateful people? Enough is enough if you don't like it here go back to your own country. We need to enforce british rights in britain before worrying about upsetting other nationalities on our soil.

Well said. The sooner the likes of this group are kicked out of Britain the better.
How can the UK government justify paying benefits to this group of misfits.

saeed - do you not remember the anti-war marches in london ?
i agree that saddam, with his iron fist, was harmonious with the situation in iraq.remove him and you have a power vacuum.democracy is a greek word, it ain't arabic.in spite of this, i believe america's intentions were good but naive - you can take a horse to water....
muslims DO kill muslims every day.american, british and israeli soldiers risk their lives doing house to house searches while muslims just bomb neighbourhoods.if you think the west is so bad, i would advise you to live in a muslim country and report back with some knowledge.

Does it not occur to you that the motives of islam4uk are not as pure as they want you to think ?
The villagers of Wooton Basset have done nothing more than honour soldiers who fell in this conflict. Choosing this village to hold the proposed march is a plain and simple attempt to instigate trouble. If the BNP wanted to march through Wooten Basset, people would be equally as outraged.
You may not like it, or agree, but muslims belonging to this group are nothing but trouble makers. The march should not be allowed to go ahead. If they really want to make a statement, why dont they march to Downing street ? Surely that would gain greater publicity.

Yes, like sexual abuse of christian girls in Egypt in order to convert them to islam. Or sexual abuse of girls in Australia by muslm gangs.

Jules, they want to get *into* Downing Street and raise the flag of Islam.
