He's probably never been to London.

Of course I did! It's famously good too.

There are in fact a few typical English dishes in England, but they are more often seen on the menus in the counties.
It looks that in London, only foreign food is available (French, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Mexican, etc...).

You may be right, but the East End isn't really attractive for people to have an evening out, is it?

Or maybe you think I am a snob...

Italy !

But you may find that their concept of pizza is completely different from what you are used in the EU (or Europe for that matter).

The REAL pizza is Italian!

We used to head east into Essex, Romford, Epping etc for an evening out, mainly because it was safer.

These days, Stratford and Romford aren't exactly where I think of going to for a meal.

I took the family to a great Chinese restaurant in Romford last year, I found it no worse than other town centres. Mind you, it wasn't a Friday or Saturday night.

Stratford used to be a great place to shop, never really gone there of an evening to eat though. I wouldn't go there full stop now.

SOFRA may be a very good chain that serves wonderful Lebanese food. Cafe Uno is another sensible chain. There also are smart places in Covent Garden for any kind of food you might need.
