Then it goes on to say:
".....were most likely the result of global warming."
"....were result" and "most likely the result" are distinctly different from each other, the result of an over-active, headline seeking media brain that seeks to attract an audience, methinks.

What's the first question that most people ask upon hearing about a disaster of any description?

How many people were killed is the norm.

Disasters alway make bigger headlines than happy events.

We're told that AGW is likely to cause a catastrophe at some time in the future and that naturally attracts more interest than the high probability that GW will make Earth a better place to live.

So there you have it, bad news is preferable to good news and many people like to be frightened, apparently.

Me, I like watching films where no one gets killed and everyone lives happily ever after as they ride off into the sunset.

Here's a happy news site, it even has a link to a kite energy invention:

UK Floods in 2000 caused by Millennium bug

"All the extremes that have happened in the last decade – including very severe extremes in the last 9 months have happened before (indeed that is largely how they are scientifically predicted using solar magnetic studies)– have happened before in the last few hundred years when there was less CO2. So they weren’t caused by CO2 but something else – the Sun – which is still around!"
